I'm sorry you haven't had a good effect from SSRIs - as I said above, my experience is the opposite.
Also, for me, depression isn't about being sad. It's about feeling nothing. Not wanting to get out of bed. Not wanting to do anything. Not believing in anything. Not having any sort of good opinion of myself. Indeed, feeling that people hated me, or were plotting against me. But not feeling sad, as such.
And those weren't real feelings (e.g., several of the people who I thought hated me, actually like and respect me). In other words, what I experience as 'natural' is wrong, and unreal. What I experience while on SSRIs is closer to reality.
Anyway, different people, different experiences, and we don't really know why. I hope you find your answer some other way
