Hello

3 months ago I abused what was probably dirty MDMA. 3 months in and I still have the usual bad comedown symptoms but I am currently more interested to hear if anybody has had eyesight problems? My night vision has dramatically deteriorated, I have sensitivity to bright light and everything just generally seems a bit 'off' which makes reading difficult. It has now been 3 months and I have yet to see any improvement. Has anybody experienced this and has your eyesight improved?

Thanks

Never happened to me, but a while ago, while doing some research (I wanted to check whether MDMA is safe for people with glaucoma) I found this paper:
Ecstasy induced acute bilateral angle closure and transient myopia ( http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1954731/ ), which also has some interesting references. I don't want to scare you into thinking that ecstasy damaged your sight (and btw, the myopia described is transient), but show you that at least one case was reported in the literature.

Long story short: it is possible. Anyways you should see an ophthalmologist. Photophobia is quite aspecific as a symptom, and maybe you are suffering from some condition that needs to be treated.

Since abusing MDMA I have gotten some terrible hppd. To be honest I'm not sure if it's gotten any better or I'm just so used to it now that it doesn't bother me or I don't really notice it. My vision is always full of the colorful static/snow not sure if you get that but it's not too big of a deal. I also get the sensitivity to bright lights as well at night, when it was at it's worse driving was a big challenge. That has forsure gotten better but it's still there, also if I smoke weed all of these are about ten times worse.

I'm sure it's gotten a bit better but it's still there. I've read hppd doesn't go away and I'm not sure if you got that or the sensitivity but once your used to it It shoudn't be a huge bother. If it's bothering you that much lay off any drug even alcohol, especially psychedelics and then see how it goes. Lesson learned I assume, hope it gets better!

Many thanks for this article!

Yes I also have the static / snow. Let's hope that it goes away or like you that I just get used to it so that I don't notice it! This was my first and last experience with drugs so won't be trying that again!

This thread has made me realize that my night vision actually returned. When I was abusing MDMA, once every month is too much for my depression-prone brain, I had troubles with night vision. At the time I just assumed it was due to having poor eye sight, I wear glasses, so I thought nothing of it. My night vision has seemed to have returned. I can't say for sure it was the MDMA though. My diet was poor, I didn't exercise, and I was overall unhealthy at the time. I've corrected all those unhealthy things, so it could have just been due to poor health as well.

Well as long as your done with drugs then I suspect it will forsure only get better and not worse. I still do mdma every month or so, same with shrooms and dxm so that probably has something to do with it.

Hello, I am having the same eyesight issues, I was wondering if it got any better for you. Thanks

MDMA is actually a surprisingly common cause of HPPD, it seems like one of the drugs that is more likely to cause it with less use. Seems weird as it's not a full psychedelic but the vision does undergo some significant changes under the influence of MDMA which can be easy to forget about. Tends to be these MDMA-specific changes which hang around so stuff like visual snow, after images and trails.

It should go with abstinence from all drugs. Can't promise that it will as I've had HPPD from 2C-B which hasn't left for 2.5 years, but it does seem to go in the majority of cases. You need to abstain from everything though including weed and alcohol until it's been gone for a good while!

Sorry to hear Nambo....I certainly feel for you. I'm about the same as you....never used hard drugs before this..... Now look at us. The tinnitus is the worst part, and mine is only bad at night which prevents me from sleeping.

has your tinnitus gotten any better? Did your symptoms appear right after or soon after your MDMA use? How's your sleep?
It all stated 2/3 days after the exposure. Bearing in mind that I have zero memory of the actual evening other than experiencing a 'burning brain' sensation. I was then relatively fine for the next 2 days until all hell literally broke loose. I'm am now 3 years on and sleep is still disturbed with weird distorted dreams. I think tinnitus has been constant but I probably have gotten 'used' to it to a cetain extent. For me it's basically high pitch static / buzzing.

Yeah that was similar to me, except not remembering the night....I remember my night....except that I passed out or slept for only an hour.. Not sure which it was lol. on my third relapse I slept ok for 2 nights then it went to absolute shit.... what's the burning brain sensation exactly? I get tingles on my face and scalp and head that travel and move around...but that's it. Have you tried any meds?
