If someone could help me with this i'd be so grateful. For the last 6 months i've been suffering from depression and anxiety, this isn't the main issue however as i am doing my best to get better from this.

The thing thats annoying me at the moment is that in the last two months or so i have been getting an increasing amount of eye floaters, so many at the moment that going outside is fairly unpleasant.
I've visited an eye hospital and been reassured that there is nothing majorly wrong and simply told to ignore them, however this is easier said than done when they are increasing daily.

Basically i'd like to know if anyone has any idea what may be causing them? i'm 19 years old. I have a few theories at the moment as to what might be causing them however not knowing is driving me crazy.

1.) I started exercising and weight lifting (to help with the depression) near to when they started appearing - could the high pressure on my eyes have caused them?

2.) I started to take cod liver oil and various multivitamins at the time of them starting as part of a regime to defeat the depression and anxiety - could my liver not be able to handle this diet / breaking down the vitamins etc. I read this here - http://www.medkb.com/Uwe/Forum.aspx/nutrition/10801/Latest-and-greatest-in-eye-floater-treatments

3.) Could i simple be noticing and looking out for them much more due to my anxiety?

I'd really appreciate some help and for someone to put my mind to rest as at the moment i'm not sure what to do in regards to the vitamin and exersise as they seemed to be helping my depression but i don't want to be causing more floaters.

On another note the depression and the anxiety was ( i think ) caused / bought out by a lot of stress that i put my body and mind under with drugs. I've since stopped taking all drugs and really can't see myself ever enjoying them ever again, or at least for a good few years - mainly because i become hypersensitive to any problem that might arise and become really anxious as soon as i take anything.

Anyway sorry for the long first post but i'd really appreciate some help with this. Cheers.

It's magnesium deficiency in most cases, mind you that you got to get a lot to make up for it. Make some adjustments in your diet and supplement. Read about it, might be the reason.

Really? as far as i know my diets fairly rich in magnesium, as i've been eating lots of seeds, nuts and bananas etc.

I've had eye floaters for as long as I can remember (I'm 19 also). I finally went to an eye doctor recently and he erased my fears about it. That's intriguing that you have developed them more recently. Just like anything else, don't pay attention to it and may as well not be there :) As for the other two things you are talking about, they often go hand in hand (I've definitely had both but have always been rather anxious). Things like meditation, rigorous exercise and good diet absolutely will help. Putting your attention on other things and really focusing may actually be of more real help though.

cheers. i think i'm going to try taking a magnesium supplement, go back on taking fish oil for my anxiety and mabey start doing some stretches to loosen my muscles - as i've noticed that my neck muscles have been very tight and this could be a contributing factor to whats causing them - worth a try anyway.

also, does anyone have any idea whether or not taking fish oil for my depression could be causing the floaters? as i want to take these to help but i don't want to be causing anymore floaters.

Since this thread was partially answered and evolved into questions on fish oil supplements, I'm going to close this and highly suggest you use the search engine as there are numerous threads on supplements in general and on fish oil. There's a link to using the search engine efficiently in my signature.
