extremely rapid opiate tolerance

Recently I was able to get Norco (10/325) pretty easily, so for the last three weeks, I probably took 1 or 2 (with no tolerance to any opiate) maybe twice a week at the most. That makes 6 uses stretched out over 3 weeks. Now I have waited a week since using any at all, and I took 20mg and felt nothing, zilch.
So I waited, thinking maybe I ate too much or something, 2 days rolled by and then I took another 20mg - nothing. Frustrated, I waited one more day and took 25 and felt nothing.
Is this how fast opiate tolerance is supposed to build? Because if so that is insane. I thought I'd heard of people using heroin every day for a small period of time without having to increase much. Thanks

you thought you heard right about the heroin.
ive been using the same amount for about a month now and my tolerance hasnt risen that dramatically...but thats me.

well my tolerance has gone up a little at a time over the last 3 months but it hasnt been anything drastic. so i believe thats right i guess.

I thought that about heroin too but I guess it just doesn't hold for the pill varieties of opiates? I have never had enough hydro on hand at once to really build up a tolerance. Like you I got good effect from 15-20 for a while, but then ran out, so I never ran up against a tolerance. With codeine, though, I found myself very annoyed with how fast a tolerance built, seeming to almost double from one day to the next, which was very annoying as with a limited supply, it was thus difficult and wasteful to try to dose two days in a row.

I got regular vicodin 5/500 (only got 8 of them). I didn't expect much, so I took 6 (cautious of the tylenol) thinking since it had been a while maybe I'd get a little buzz. I was nodding out just sitting on the couch in a group of friends! I've come to this conclusion about my body:
I build tolerances VERY quickly, but i also lose them very quickly. As long as I don't try and dose more than 1 of maybe sometimes 2 times a week, I shouldn't have to mess too much with my dosing.

u took 6 VICS and only nodded out???damn, i have been taking OPIATES(OXYCONTIN, HEROIN and occasionally VICS) for a few years and i can get a decent lil' high from a 750 VIC....some of your guys tolerances are just freakish..either that or mine is...i dunno

Hehe, I have friends who can take 8 Norco (10/325) and they say the buzz is still lacking. I think once your tolerance to opiates starts getting hardcore, vicodin just won't even cut it anymore.

Keep your body out of this!
Physical tolerance does not occur that quickly, especially with such inconsistent low dose use.
You may become psychologically accustomed to the effects, but do not confuse this with physical tolerance.
Freakk if 7.5mg of hydrocodone gets you high.......I am very jealous.......

So would you say that quickly going from 20mg for a decent effect, to 20mg for no effect whatsoever (i'm talking like a matter of days here, with the same batch of pills) has nothing to do with tolerance issues?

Opiates do not always produce consistent results.
For example, 3 days ago I snort 40mg/oxy and felt only tired and itchy, but no real high. I snort 20mg more, but for some reason I cannot seem to get high that day. The following day I snort 40mg and get decently high.
I dont think tolerance can happen that fast, unless you take the doses so close together that the previous dose has yet to be eliminated. But that isn't really tolerance. Being "used" to a feeling, and being tolerant to a drug are similar but different issues.

Ah ok, I understand perfectly. Would metabolism have anything to with it?
The reason I ask is, that usually when I take a pill or anything like that, I feel the full effects in no more than ten minutes. This seems unusually fast. When I do catch a buzz from opiates, it usually takes about 10 mins for several pills to kick in, but when it doesn't work I know pretty quick because I don't get anything within 20 minutes (a dead give away for me).
Possibly the way my body processes it? Doctors tell me I have an incredibly fast metabolism, I guess they could tell from a blood test - a level of some chemical in my blood was very high. Just a thought.

Metabolism probably has a lot to do with your situation. I think the same person can metabolize a certain drug differently on different days, which may be a result of ever-changing hormone levels and the like. Or maybe natural endorphins are competing at the BBB, who knows.....

im going to agree with negrogesic on the oxy choosing its days. This has happened to me off and on the last year and i cant come up with an explaination.

I agree that tolerance is a bitch, but it doesnt progress over a couple of days. Continous use for a period of time has been my experience.

yeah using a drug on the weekends will NOT build yourself much of a tolerance..u wont get as GREAT of a first time high as you did those first few times but youll still get high...these poeople claiming they have built a high tolerance by using a drug 2-3 times per month is just whacky..
NEGRO-well, a "high" is different for everyone..when i take OPIATES i like to get a nice laid back buzz, the nice little floaty "good" feeling..i do NOT like to nod off after taking them...i DO receive a little buzz from a 750 mg VIC...it wont keep me going for 4 hours but it does its job...
a $20 bag of H gets me high 3-5 times, snorting it...i do consider myself lucky with a rather low tolerance...

Setting has alot to do with tolerence. You shoot 3 bags of dope here, then goto friends house shoot 2 bags of the same dope and OD.
