Hi everyone, I've been coming to this sight for probably three or more years (maybe) and never created an account that I can think of but, after a recent IV mishap yesterday morning and an inability to find the info I need to handle the situation, I've finally created an account in hopes of finding out what to do (preferably without a trip to the ER).
That being said, here is my issue:
My boyfriend has been hitting me in the neck with meth (probably around a quarter gram at a time, once-sometimes twice-a day) for probably 18 months to two years because my veins have become trash everywhere else (even the hospitals have to do an EJ if they need blood). He's always been very careful as he pushed everything through, but lately he has been struggling to hit me... Sometimes five or six pokes in one sitting until we both give up (we rarely try that many times though)... Well, yesterday morning, after I first gave him a shot (same spot-EJ, same amount as I do) like we usually do, he was struggling. The day before, he had found a new vein in the left side of my neck that he was able to hit in one try so I recommended he try the same vein again. He got it to register and it burned very slightly initially, but when I told him to check it again, I started to feel the high so I told him to ahead. It seemed like it started to go numb but I couldn't tell so I didn't say anything until it started to burn again, at which point I told him to just pull out. He had already administered almost 40 cents out of 50.
When he pulled out, I instantly started to feel the burn of a miss, so I put pressure on it right away like I have done in the past (when others tried to hit me, but missed). This time, I noticed that I was numb all the way from above my ear, to the front of my throat, and then down my arm-about halfway to my elbow. The main numbness was in my actual shoulder, though. I massaged it for a bit thinking it would be fine. Morning time came around and I started to feel a bit tender in my neck, but you couldn't see a major lump or anything so I thought nothing of it.
I am now roughly 36 to 50 hours after the miss (I think) and I literally cannot swallow, extend my arm, lift my arm, move my head in any direction, or even speak without wanting to scream. I have this sharp, yet dull ache in my shoulder socket that extends to my neck and to my shoulder blade. I've had a splitting headache the whole time that also feels numb to the touch on the skin in the same area... Any time I try to touch my collarbone (where there is now a rather visible large amount of swelling), I want to scream because it feels like somebody is taking a hot knife and slicing it all across my skin, followed by an ache deep in my chest that radiates down to my left hand in a throbbing sensation.
I know it's stupid to shoot up in the neck, but I have my stupid reasons for doing it. But, at this point, I'm actually really scared because I've never had this happen before and I don't know what to do. Been shooting up for almost 7 years I think.
Any advice or help is extremely appreciated and I thank you in advance.
