Explain rehab in Oz

I like meth and smoke it every 3 days if possible. This would be fine if not for a forthcoming life changing move interstate in the future


I have not hit rock bottom just yet but I'm interested in Australian based rehabs for getting clean.

I've done the whole detox in acute mental health hospital ward thing before ( albeit for Amphetamines and cannabis 19 years ago)

So I know kinda what to expect.
 
If you have private health insurance I can recommend South Pacific at Curl Curl in Sydney. It does follow a 12-step model but it also gives equal weight to psychiatry and psychology and people who have a dual diagnosis and need to medicated are well looked after. They focus a lot on trauma. It’s 100 % residential.

Apart from that there is an outpatient clinic at St Vincents Hospital that specialises in stims. They have a really great app to help you quit or cutdown your use too.
 
Hey @Boku_ I'm based in Sydney as well (like Perforated), so all my specific recommendations from my personal experience are going to be Sydney/NSW based as well.

Are you currently in Melbourne? Where are you moving to, and when? Do you want to do rehab before, or after the interstate move? What kind of rehab would you be looking at, e.g. 3 months, 6 months, 12 months or more?

All of the rehabs I know of require you to be at least 3 weeks completely clean and sober BEFORE entering the rehab, so you'd need to detox before going in.
 
I'd like to detox in a Melbourne Hospital for 2-3 weeks and then 30 days rehab either Vic or NSW but that's just a quess.

Maybe a hospital detox would be enough. I really don't know

@Boku_ I have only been to rehab once and it was a privately paid one called Dayhab. I did the 30 day stay which involved Dailey classroom activities in Wheelers Hill then we stayed at a property about 25mins minibus ride out past the dandynongs.

I think the Odyssey House Victoria program is the best option for someone that doesn't have the funds for private rehab.

I am being dragged across a blistering wretched chasm of a rock bottom for years now rehab might be the spark I need to reignite my recovery thanks Medicaid I sure as heck cannot pay anyone to heal the damage caused by drugs they made

Rehab is a renewal. Rejuvenation. Regrowth. Rediscovery. Exploration. Adventure. Relaxation. Escape. Communal bonding and friend making. Relating. Respite if voluntary or perhaps not still a refreshing time if all goes well. Whether in Oz or Kansas.
 
My ego is like rehab isn't needed yet it nearly kills me time and time again I probably would have been admitted to inpatient by a doctor if they saw me two nights ago in the ER I am a repeat visitor same drug induced paranoia

Have to sign up for outpatient now it is like well I don't seem to be able to see another option

Sry this thread is in browser memory keeps coming up when I begin to type in the site lol even after deleting cookies and history weird

I used to joke about the convenience of a hospital award winning no less at the end of my neighborhood when experimenting with sketchy RCs and propylhexedrine now a poster plaque on the ER wall of an EMT stroke victim still serving to save lives punched me in the face in a wheelchair two nights ago as I mentally prepared to die there

@Boku_ Hi Mate,

My suggestion would be get a referral even if its from your current doctor
for a psychologist who specializes in drug counseling in an area that's convenient for you.
Especially if you don't have a support circle.
