expired testing kit

This might seem like a stupid question but I was wondering what an expired testing kit would do if you were to use it?
Would it give wrong tests?
would it not react at all?
Could someone please answer this for me because I am very curious!

Basically it would not giev accurate results. I guess this also depends on what type of tester we are talking about. with Marquis, the most common form of ecstasy tester, an "expired" kit could be less discriminating as to what it gives a black reaction to.
