I know I sound like a hypochondriac but I heard the toxins can be bad and may contribute to cancer. Not just from expired old pod tea but generally, normal poppy pods that have certain pathogens on them. My question is if my tea goes bad and I drink it and I never get ill I am not damaging my liver or setting myself up for disease like cancer in the future, am I? I am going to stop doing this now but I used to leave it for 2 or 3 days and drink it when it smelt bad. I have been doing this only for a few months.

Finally does boiling for 20 mins destroy the pathogens because i found a source that says pathogens can be destroyed at 60c. I always put 2 lemons in my tea which is a strong anti oxidant, can this limit damage?
