Harm Reduction Expired micron filters

I just purchased a bunch of sterile micron filters but I see that they expired in 2008...

They are individually packaged and marked as sterile but they have been expired for 5 years now. Should this be a problem? Are they still good to use to sterilize a solution for IV use, or has the fact that they've expired make them dangerous? There is nothing in a filter that I could image woulda "go bad", but I just want to make sure. Thanks.

I tried doing some searching on the subject and found this in a post in the micron filter mega thread:

I also look out for the expiring date of my filters. My new bought filters' (bought today for 1,70 Euro each one, 10 filters bought) expiring date is february 2013. When you use filters that expire in just a few months, it's possible that that crystallization shit appears, or that the filter doesn't filter properly anymore. Believe me, I've got plenty of experience with those things.

Seems as though it does matter. I couldn't find any specific threads about your problem though, like absolutely zero. So other than that I can't tell you for certain. I have no experience with micron filters, nor do I IV.

Yea it's weird that there seems to be no info on this subject.
Does anyone else have any ideas?

^This, probably depends on what the micron filter is made out of, including the porous material.

Honestly, I would say it's a helluva lot better than NOT filtering. Remember to push some sterile water through the micron prior to using it to saturate it and if you have ANY problems doing so, dispose of the micron filters and order a new supply of micron filters. A modest-bulk-sized pack will run you the price of a bag or two of dope, or easily the price of just ONE pill you're trying to shoot.

You can't put a price on your health. You only have one body in this life. In later years, you will be treated by your body as you treated your body in your youth. Pulmonary embolism, edema, deep vein thrombosis, other types of clots/etc is by no means worth ANY shot of dope, no matter how good of a shot you think it will be.
