Opioids Expired HycoTuss- is it safe?

I uncovered a bottle of Hycotuss syrup that is said to have expired in '03. It is a 5 mg hydro/100mg guafensin mix. The bottle has been in a cabinet for all of these years, and the syrup looks normal. Smells kind of sweet/mediciny, which is expected. Is it ok to drink some of this? Just curious.

Also, if safe, what is a reccomended dosage for someone with a fairly bad cough and cold?
