Experimental/Chillout/Ambient/Downtempo/Trip hop MEGATHREAD

Hey guys, I've only ventured into NEMD but I've been a fan of trip-hop and downtempo for the longest! Happy to make it to EMD finally. Hopefully I can contribute some stuff that hasn't been posted a million times. Please let me know what you think as feedback is always appreciated. :)

Cheers for the Helios heads-up Ricardo! %) Loving the handful of tracks I found on Youtube - will have to investigate some more.

Scottish Mogwai label-mates Errors are well worth a listen. Kind of Mogwai-esque electronica with a similar sensibility for the dynamic, the rhythmic shifts and the multi-layered effects with the purely electronic side brought to the fore. A kind of Scottish Fuck Buttons maybe, another fav on pretty steady rotation.

I've been listening to Ott's Mir non-stop these last few days. I was listening to it a lot when it was released, but I think I only understood how good this album is in the last few days.

My current favourite track from Mir:

I couldn't get into Mir as much as I did Blumenkraft.. Owl Stretching Time is a massive tune though.

I took some 2C-E & LSD the other day, threw on Mir, and... wow... it was like being walked up a Penrose staircase...

Levictus, that's happening to me with Shpongle's Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland. It seems like I'm only beginning to truly appreciate it now. Although, I haven't ever listened to it tripping balls, so that could be one of the primary issues with my relationship to that album.

That's also my experience with Shpongle IV. I did enjoy it a lot when I first listened to it, but Shpongle releases are the kind that tend to grow on you. You listen to it and you always discover something new and beautiful. :)
