Experiences with music festivals?

Dude, no offense, but I'm fucking cracking up at your post over here. The way you sound all old and crotchety, I expected you to drop that you were like 53 or something. But fucking 26? You only live once man, go experience some new, fun shit. There are SO MANY festies that to say you don't care for the bands is insane, just look around and I can almost guarantee you'll find one exactly suited to your tastes. What do you like, oldschool jam rock style shit? Allgood is right up your alley. EDM? Pretty much any summer festival haha.

There was just one in CA called I think Outside Lands that had everything from EDM icons like Justice to straight-up icons like Stevie Wonder, and everything in between (Jack White, Metallica, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Foo Fighters, Beck, Norah Jones... literally everything). The camping thing I can understand a little, but camping is THE SHIT, why wouldn't you want to go? Just buy an air mattress and some amenities before if comfort is the issue, you can live like you're at home for super cheap while camping these days.

Plus, if you like drugs (which, crazy assumption here at BL I know!), they should be right up your alley. I know people are saying it would be easy to get ripped off, but if you're not stupid as shit, you'd be surprised at how few of the people are out to rip others off. There's often a whole feeling of "family" and "unity" at most of these types of things, so peoples' consciences tend to keep them in check when there's no outside reason (imagine that).

To the topic at hand, I'm glad to have come across this thread. I was thinking about making a bluelight thread, then just google searched "Weed at North Coast" haha, this thread was one of the first to pop up (I love you guys, you know that?). I just got my tickets for North Coast, and it will be my first festival inside city limits, so I wasn't sure how sketchy it would be to try and smoke there. Getting shit in I'm not worried about, just bringing enough for two people. As much as I love camping out for shows, I'm pretty excited to have a nice hotel to go back to and recuperate in the like 6 hour stretch between after parties and the next day... a hot tub and a soft ass bed while my face is melting off sounds like a nice way to chill haha.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I tried to imagine roo before I went, even tried to prepare for the fact that it was going to be crazy but it was 10x crazier than I thought it could be. 8 festivals later and they still seem somewhat new every time. Roo is the only one I've been to twice.
 
^ Yeah same here, I tried to imagine what it was like before I first went and even thought I might of had a good grasp on how it would be and how big it would be and stuff
But shit when I got there my mind was fucking blown, I've had some of the most incredible nights at Bonnaroo.

I went with my gf at the time the year Pearl Jam and Sigur Ros played.
I had eaten like a half gram of molly through out the night and was rolling hard and then ate some mushrooms during Pearl Jam.

I just remember laying there in the grass cuddling with the love of my life feeling euphoric as fuck and just thinking I never wanted it to end.
That's not all lol, after that we went to get a seat for Sigur Ros, and my god, by the end of that show my girl friend and I, along with many many other people in the crowd, were straight weeping at how fucking beautiful and incredible that show was, it was seriously the best night of my life

Bonnaroo security is a bit more strict with drugs, but you can still find good stuff and you wont get hassled for lighting up a j or something. I found at Bonnaroo most of the psychedelics are pretty bunk, a long with a good portion of the MDMA. It is super fucking hot and dusty which sucks, because at times it can prevent you from seeing a show. All in all it is still a great festival with an amazing people and awesome music.

I've been to Roo 5 times and never once had a problem with security and never bought bunk drugs, I did see one dude get busted out in the camp grounds with a back pack full of nugs but he was being a dumb ass and selling right in the middle of shakedown, you gotta creep off the street and duck behind a tent or something real quick to do the deal.

But yeah there is no security inside centeroo besides right in front of the stages, and most of the security at the gates for centeroo are just regular college kids and most don't even hardly pat you down, they just always look in your back pack for glass, I always just keep my stuff in my cigarette pack or my shoe

And also the camp grounds are so huge you can be so far out that you won't even see any of those mounted horse back'd security guys at all, and they're are the only security in the camp grounds.
It gets crazy out there at night

I think I would go crazy at one of those festivals. Sounds like a bunch of tree huggers.
 
long story short, festivals are large open-air markets and the new evolution of the 90's warehouse rave scene.

good vibes, good drugs, and good people all around. except the douchebags. fuck the douchebags

but festivals are all about having fun on your own terms. if you wanna snort a g of blow, eat a half g of molly, and go rage face.....you can. in the same respect, if you wanna sit under a tree with a fat joint and some good friends, that's also more than welcome.
 
Well, a lot of festivals actually really frown upon coke for some reason. Do all the molly and K and acid that you want, but for some reason coke and nitrous seem to be a big no-no at the festivals I've been to (the ones with bikers for security, they'll take that shit away and kick your ass out)
 
Coke hasn't seemed to be frowned upon too much at the festivals I've been to but then again, it wasn't prevalent either.

The nitrous seems to be frowned upon because of the Nitrous Mafia.
 
i normally do molly then bumps of coke for energy since pure mdma is chill.
 
After just finishing my first season of festy hopping, I can't say enough how mind blowing of an adventure it all was. Totally agree with the point about doing it on your own terms. After soloing at a few fests and meeting all the wild, amazing people I encountered, I have to say I'm glad I had my limits and kept my wits about me. Normally being very much of the "go with the flow" mindset, I would have been in for quite the adventure indeed had I accepted everything that came my way. Can't recommend it enough =D
 
I've been doing festivals since I was probably 17 (25 now). Everywhere from arkansas and texas to northern california. I can say if you aren't a retard you probably won't be getting fake drugs. And if you can judge people at all you will know who to buy from and who to avoid. Security has never been an issue they are more concerned with bringing alcohol into the venue than anything. Most of the security unless they are cops are trying to do the same thing as you but they are getting to do it for free by volunteering for security. Your gonna meet some awesome people and see some crazy shit thats for sure. There really isn't much that can prepare you for a festival like bonaroo or burning man. For me at least i try and keep the hallucinogens to a minimum the 1st night so i can kind of get my bearings and figure out where everything is. I know some people are chewing up acid before they get there but I like to know where i am and meet some people before i melt face.
 
Its a mixture of everything arts/music/drugs/crazy people and its huge in terms of getting around and huge in terms of people there. I found it pretty impossible to see everything there was at the festival. Also you gotta take into account its in the desert so be prepared.
