Experiences with music festivals?

Next summer I think it would be awesome to hit up a few music festivals. Just listen to some great jams and trip out on drugs. What are your experiences with music festivals (USA)? Are drugs easy to come by? Is the security tight?

I went to a certain festival in colorado in march and it was fucking freezing. It was my first festival and I kind of expected it to be better. Honestly dancing around in the snow was kind of a buzzkill, I would be a lot more interested going to a festival in CA in the summer. Also, I have a funny story about security. The second day, I went in with a couple pre weighed 1 gram and half gram bags of molly. They were in a pocket in the inside of my jacket, but it was a mesh pocket with no zipper. The first thing the person at the door said was "unzip your jacket", i nearly pissed my pants in fear and when she patted me down she literally put her hand right on the bags of molly (that were in plain sight). I don't know if she actually didn't notice or was just cool as fuck but she didn't say anything and let me through. Althoug she did make me pour out the flask on vodka that was in my hoody pocket. My friend also accidently walked in with a couple thizz pills in his pocket and told me that the door man just told him to put them in his sock and get back in line

You gotta be hardy to enjoy the festivals here. (Colorado) tonight I am going to a doof in the forest west of Denver and it will probably be high 20's tonight.

Always bring your own drugs if you go. They are scam city.

what do you mean "hardy"? and i was talking about east coast festivals mainly. so basically everything there is bunk or something? people will scam you?

I was responding to whatabouttheforests.

At a major music festival like Bonaroo or Coachella, nearly any drug you would be sold inside the venue will be bunk. There are thousands and thousands of people, what motivation does someone have to sell acid when they could just sell paper?

i donmt do the whole 3day sleeping in tent type of festivals..im too old that shit, i dont really do the drugs those people at those places do and plus im not sleeping in a tent..i might go if i can get into a hotel or like going to lolla is ok cause i come home everynight or one of my girls lives right off LSD and ill stay with her..but things like rothbury or bonnaroo i dont do..not my style anymore if they had that shit when i was 17-18 maybe but at 26 im not wasting my time and energy especially cause i dont care for 3/4 the bands that play at those shows

one day music shows like jamboree or warped or ozfest are hard enough to do, doing that hsit for 3days in a row would be hard

Hello everyone, I'm new to the bluelight, and I love it .. I'm in Texas and a good friend of mine throws a great gathering called SPACE HIPPIES every year. This year its in September, I think the 26th or something. Its worth a google or two if you think you might be in the area in September. Take care..

I've been to Lollapalooza for a number of years and they only check your bag when going in. Not your person. You can bring pretty much anything in you want and I've had no issue smoking there. You can find legit stuff but a lot of it will be bunk and since there's no hassle bringing stuff in it's better to be safe. I've had a ton of fun there but it's going a bit more towards the popular EDM side (Avicii, Deadmau5, Skrillex) so it draws some crowd that isn't all that sweet. Still a lot of fun though.

I went to Northcoast Music Festival, two years ago, in Chicago and it was a similar experience. A different crowd, more rave type. It's in a much smaller place that is nice but can sometimes be dusty. Can be sketchy at times but it's bluelight so I don't think too many people mind. An example is getting sold nitrous in an alley by a guy with a tank. In early September so I've found the weather to be perfect.

Finally Pitchfork Music Festival. It's in the same location as Northcoast and is very dusty as it tends to be hotter around then. Mostly Hipster types but some people who are really into drugs. Very chill.

I'm going to Bonaroo and I'll report back on that if this thread still has some life to it. And Wavefront Music Festival, a new electronic festival in Chicago on the beach.

I've seen a woman complain to a cop at a festival that she had pot smoking neighbors. The cop said he couldn't do anything and to talk to security, which was a 3 or 3 mile walk away.

With that being said, I know people who have lost hundreds of dollars worth of drugs due to being searched upon arrival.

In my experience at Bonnaroo, it really just boils down to the cop or security guard on whether or not you will get your shit taken and/or arrested.

i have been seeing shows and doing the festival circuit for over 5 years(camping feasts). every one is a special experience. beautiful people, beautiful music, and beautiful drugs. everyone bitches about bunk shit and idk if they are just super noobs or what???? i have only been bunked once and that was when i was a noob and at my first fest. its pretty easy to find the good with a little bit of interaction with people. have fun! i will be doing the phish deer creek-alpine run, and hopefully all good and more small fests in between.

how about jimmy buffet at the tweeter this year and them not opening the parking lots unbtil 2pm..it orginally was to be 330pm and they arent allowing over night stays but they changed it cause people were bitching

im not a huge buffet fan but his concerts are amazing..last year it was at toyota park and they alloowed ypou to be ther at like 10am aqnd i live one city over so i was able to go and party a little then come home, eat and shower then go back ..it was so hot and humid and if i remmeber right i htink it rained all day too, which is why they moved it back to the tweeter cause the stage hasd a roof and so do most seats

you cant host buffet and not open the parking lots until 2pm

I've been to a couple festivals up here in new england/ the northeast. They're usually a great time although far too expensive for me. There's lots of drugs around but like others have said you can't be sure if what you're getting is real or not. I have never been sold fake drugs at a festival but obviously they'll be out there. Lots of good music and cool people to meet. Some festivals have some cops there but they can't really do much because everyone is doing drugs, just don't be stupid about it sitting in front of the main stage smoking a 3 foot bong or something like that. Some don't even have cops and will hire bikers as private security.

One thing though, just because everyone there is all about the peace and love and unity and shit doesn't mean your tent won't get robbed, I've seen it before. People have even been murdered at Vibes in Bridgeport. Can't let your guard completely down in a place with that many people.

I have been to Bonnaroo and Camp Bisco.

Bonnaroo security is a bit more strict with drugs, but you can still find good stuff and you wont get hassled for lighting up a j or something. I found at Bonnaroo most of the psychedelics are pretty bunk, a long with a good portion of the MDMA. It is super fucking hot and dusty which sucks, because at times it can prevent you from seeing a show. All in all it is still a great festival with an amazing people and awesome music.

Camp Bisco is pretty close to a free for all, although this year i think they will be a little more strict. There are no cops, just hells angles that run security. The bikers don't care what you do as long as you are not selling drugs, but even then not many people are caught. The drugs are pretty good, almost all the LSD is legit but a lot of the MDMA is bunk or just bath salts. The location is great, upstate NY in july is perfect fest weather although it always rains at least once. The crows is good, not as good as Bonnaroo though. There a few different factions of people that gather at Camp Bisco every year and they sometimes clash, so the unity isn't all there. However i have met great people at camp. Lastly, if your into electronica/psychedelia it might be the best music fest in america.

Festivals are great! I tend to enjoy the smaller more intimate festies tho. Ive been to Bonnaroo but will probably never go back way way too big.

I just got back from electric forest in Rothbury Michigan. What an amazing festival plenty of good legit drugs (if your not an idiot) security was pretty lax and the cops didnt harass anbody too bad from what I saw. Im goin next year with hopes of an improved lineup but I had a great timebeat the shit outta bonnaroo thats for sure!
