Experiences with generic suboxone

Hi everyone. I figured with the recent availability of generic suboxone by Indian pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy’s as well as by the original manufacturer invisior, there might be the need for a thread discussing any noteworthy experiences that people are having. I’ve been on the brand name suboxone off and on since 2010. Pretty solidly for the last 5 yrs. I’m currently on 4 8 mg strips a day for maintenance as well as for chronic pain. Insurance obviously ran with the option to pay for the generic which I took for the first time about a month ago. 3 days in and I started getting hit with a wave of cravings. Knowing it could possibly be in my mind, I tried not relate it to the switch and more to the fact that I had started drifting from recovery. This might have worked except my girlfriend had also switched and reported not feeling right also. I ended up relapsing for about 2 weeks. I detoxed at home like I have probably thousands of times at this point. Today is day 12 and the first day I haven’t had sweats/chills. I’ve relapsed quite a bit on the last few years and with brand name subs, I’m typically ready to run a marathon by day 6.

Something def feels different with the generic. I can’t put my finger on it and it’s kind of early to assess but the manufacturer has know. Documented issues with some drug recalls and questionably facilities as well as being in a current court battle of patent infringement regarding the release of their generic.

Obviously it’s not out of the realm of possibility that a money hungry multi national pharmaceutical company would cut corners to get a piece of the multi billion dollar industry that suboxone maintenance has created. It’s also possible that my drug addled mind is feeding a paranoid narrative. So I’m asking if anyone has questionable experiences regarding generic suboxone please share here so we can get the discussion going. Thanks.

Yea tried some last night, I felt the same migraine headache I’ve felt with generic subutex in the past. Also I didn’t give it enough time but based on my past experience it felt as if it wasn’t really doing it’s job but I hadn’t given myself a chance to WD yet.

It seems anything that isn’t brand name Suboxone gives me a horrible pressure and migraine headache which many others report with this Dr Reddys BS. Also none of them come close to the same relief. I have to take x4 as much and still don’t feel it’s the same.

Thank god I have a decent stash of the legit ones cuz otherwise I’d be in a world of hurt. Everyone should complain because they’res already lots of complaints out there, may get this shit recalled.

Lots of folks in WD right now over this.

Sorry to hear you’re suffering as well. At least I’m not crazy tho. At least as far as this is concerned. Sucks.

You’re not crazy. I recently acquired a handful of generic 4/2 strips for a rapid taper/detox. Usually when I do this I can get by on 6mg day one and drop a mg a day till I finish. These genetics blow! I had to take 12 on day one. And I was still shitting myself and dry heaving continuously. On day three I got my hands on a brand name 8. 2 mgs of it had me feeling good enough to eat solid foods and drink water. Idk what can be done about this. But it’s fucking bullshit!

right? I told my doctor and she said lots of people are complaining. With the brand name shit I usually suffer pretty bad from 24 hrs out until 48-72 depending on how bad my habit got and if I had enough discipline to taper myself. Last time I jumped off at like $180 a day and I might as well not have been taking anything because that’s what it felt like even tho I had the typical comfort drugs on top of these bullshit dr. Reddy strips. More like Dr. not reddy. It’s been about 16 yrs and pre suboxone since I that horrible. 4 days of not being able to eat solids 5 days of barely moving and 12 days to feel halfway normal again. Told my doctor to give me zubsolves to avoid generics. Hope it works. Also hope whatever is up with this company making these that their bs is exposed.

It fucking sucks that you guys in the USA have to deal with it. Here in the UK, where we don't have to deal with a private healthcare system and battles with insurance and all the nonsense that comes along with it, I've been given maybe 3 different "brands" of bupe, all of them European (the latest one is from Sandoz) and the quality has been consistent and identical. If I have 4mg from one brand it will be identical to 4mg of another brand as it fucking should be. Pharmaceutical companies are supposed to provide products that only the dose, amount and formulation of the active product that it says on the box, and it's a travesty that because of insurance issues your recovery has been derailed by getting an inferior Indian product. It's possible that you are having a bad reaction to the filler used in those pills, but whilst that might explain the headaches it wouldn't explain your cravings bouncing back. If the subutex your insurance is paying for isn't up to scratch can't you contact them and get them to give you your old brand back?
