I've been slamming junk for a short while now. Truth be told, I'm terrible at it. This morning I shot a bag into the crook of my left arm, subsequently it swelled up and my injection was purely subcutaneous. Just an hour ago I tried another shot. This time a few inches below my right wrist. I made sure the hit registered, blood entered the chamber and I emptied the contents into the vein, or so I thought. Now both sites are swollen, not quite not discolored, and have gone down a little. The high is crappy compared to IV. Why can't I get a hit right!!!!!? ????¿?

I've had a few experiences semi-similar to your's, it's hard to say since it's not my own body. But sometimes, the vein swells up/bubbles from too much trauma when the needle is put in, I've had that happen and create a pretty nasty bump for a while. Also, I've had a few instances where I've hit, and made sure to re-register multiple times throughout the shot (always, always do that) and pull out and still get a strange bump, but not similar to the one where the vein bubbles up (so to speak). I think this is caused from some dope essentially "leaking" it's way out of the vein so your body sort of reacts to it as a missed shot, even though you hit. I can understand your frustration, I've been there before and it's especially shitty when you thought you were going to hit. All I can say is move around, try different areas, look for thicker, more sturdy veins and re-register as much as you can during your shot.

Sometimes you don't want to reregister over and over cause just doing that can cause your needle to slip out. If you are in from the start and get a solid blood plume, I would check once midway to make sure and if there is still blood continue carefully. If any pain/burning stop immediately cause you are not in. (That's the good thing about IV ing heroin versus cocaine. Heroin you feel as soon as you are missing. Coke numbs it)

OP--you just sound like you're missing. No rush, no taste, and not the same high? You may be one of the people who draws back and sees blood then pushes too hard and pushes thru the vein. A second check would be good, and a shallow angle so you're not poking straight thru. Draw back plunger a tiny bit as soon as you puncture skin And when you hit blood immediately flashes. Then draw back; you should have steady blood flow

Stay away from rolling veins. Make sure vein is taut. Make sure it's a good steady flow. It's not as hard as people seem to make it out to be...

Sounds like you missed.
Why are you playing with the needle, if u don't mind me asking? Just curious, because most of the time when you start, its with someone who can show you how to do it. I'm not here to tell you what to do but I've been down that road man and there's no joy in it. Now i gotta deal with this shit basically forever. It turns into a whole new addiction in itself. And the health risks and probabilities? fffff.. Anyway, this site is directed towards harm reduction and I'm all about stopping a noob from shooting up their first time, something i wish someone did for me.
But, if you insist on shooting-
... Try not to shoot the same place more than once a day or so.
... Get short-tip syringes so you don't pass through the vein.
... Always use fresh and clean equipment, and sanitize injection site
... Draw back once to see the register, like said before just readjusting after the register could mess up your aim, why do it more unless necessary?
... Always smell or taste your dope to check. Also If your unsure about the quality, do a tester shot to evaluate. You can always do more, but once you cross that line you can't take any back out so be careful.
