Exercise to increase GABA production? Link or not?

Question here, well we all know that Exercise increases Endorphin productions (Endogenous Morphine). But since my problems in Addiction both are lay with GABAergics (I'm a GABA Whore - literally) and also Opioids (Endorphins). Does Exercise play any roll in increasing GABA production in the brain?

I used to be a long distance runner, and did very well with that many years ago until I got into heavy drug abuse.
I know there is no 'easy fix'. I am just wondering if there is a link with GABA and Exercising?

Anyone chime in on this one?

Thanks BLers! :-)

exercise makes the body and brain work better. you run everyday, i guarantee that you'll have less anxiety.

This is a bit advanced for BDD so moving to OD at request of OP.

BDD > OD

it's not like people with full-blown heroin dependence can replace opiates with exercise, but exercise will help maintain soberness. this works for ANY drug....so to answer your question, yes you will get similar results from exercise as a person formally dependent on opiates.

Excercise is good for you.

I don't think it's because of "increased GABA" or whatever, there's multiple systems at work (cannabinoid and endorphin are 2 big ones). I'm comfortable with simply saying that excercise will make you feel better in a nonspecific way.

ehhh ive always exercised but ive also always been anxious too...sure exercise will decrease anxiety but not to the extent of drugs like benzos or opiates..exercise will boost your mood but only for a few hours..plus, you cant exercise 3-4 times a day either so its not as practical as drugs are..
