so every stoner knows that you can only get so high from weed, and the first high of the day will ALWAYS be the best high. In my experience, if I wake and bake i'll get extremely blown and the high is typically very energetic, happy, and colorful- as are most first highs of the day. However, if I smoke heavily in the morning/afternoon and continue to smoke all day, the highs become less of a 'high' and more of a sedation- extremely groggy, irritable, quiet/non-verbal, shortened attention span, less creative, and almost no motivation to do anything else besides smoke.

Im guessing this is because all the areas of the brain that weed stimulates becomes depleted of natural chemicals and overfilled with the cannabis chemicals. Can anyone offer more clarity on this? Im not so much asking about the effects/side effects of cannabis..more about the cause of the effects??

its not to do so much with natural endorphins being depleted, moreso your receptors for cannabinoids become flooded.

as in, that episode of the simpsons where the doc is explaining to mister burns about all the germs trying to get in at once, the door becomes packed.

well, basically you're just clouding your brain with thc and other cannabis compounds.

kinda like when you drink so much beer and you just get that plateau blurry buzz goin.

all the symptoms you describe are just getting too high.
keep smoking if you want to build a tolerance to this.
or take a break every now and then if its a problem.

both will work.
ganja is different for everyone.
you may get groggy, while someone else may get blown and energetic after smoking too much.

yeah that makes sense about the brain being flooded with thc and cbs, but i thought smoking also caused the brain to release dopamine and possibly some other neurotransmitters?

With mdma, you can only get so high, so often, and so many times before you lose the magic. This is all pretty much because your brain gets depleted of serotonin from a single high. I would think the brain has a limited amount of dopamine, and while not as drastic as mdma, weed depletes the brain of certain neurotransmitters, or atleast significantly lower the amount available.

This would also make sense as to why people never get as high as they do the first few times, a few days(or even a day) of not smoking will make a huge difference in your tolerance, and smoking all day everyday can leave people feeling drained/lethargic i would think..?

im sure that it does something with the transmitters of dopamine, but doesnt directly interact with them.

mdma releases dopamine and serotonin (the brain cannot reproduce serotonin, although you can buy 5-HTP; not sure if thats the exact name; but its the only way to re-up one's serotonin levels)

all it really is is that you've consumed too much thc.
you get that sloppy, groggy, tiredness where you just dont want to move -
commonly referred to as a "burnout".
you've smoked so much that you cant get any higher.

my advice to avoid this, is take a week break, just straight up clean from cannabis.
plenty of water, fruit, exercise etc.

then get a bag of some dankity dank -
pack a fat bongload with kief and hash (if available) and hit that shit til its ash.

enjoy being higher than your previous "limit" ;)

I Always find if I have a morning smoke, I gotta chill out about 3-5 pm if I wanna get remotely high again by 9...

& I Like the simpsons reference sega, classic.

man the simpsons is kickass. not any more though. they should just kill it already IMO.

& wknd addiction, its easier on your wallet too

5-htp is the chemical that your body turns into serotonin. You can buy it in supplement form or you can get it from certain foods. People say that if you take the supplement you'll get higher when you smoke weed. idk if thats true or not.

Im not asking how do i get higher, im wondering why a tolerance break works. Do thc and cbs stay in your brain for hours or days or weeks? why does the more you smoke mean the less high you'll get? I guess im asking more about brain chemistry so maybe this isnt the right place for this?

IME tolerance has something to do with it and also the type/strain that you're smoking can too.

I noticed that when I was smoking daily multiple times a day and I had a moderate/high tolerance I would get used to the strain/type of herb I was smoking and then if I got a new strain/type that was very good I'd get very high from smoking it and while smoking the new strain/type I would have a lowered tolerance and not have to smoke as much but this didn't last long.

Tolerance breaks work because you're not getting high daily or in whatever set pattern you usually do like if it's just weekends and your tolerance to whatever drug even if it's booze goes down because you're not using it at all or as frequently as you once were.
