Excessive DMT use - Possible Damage, Reverse

Several months ago, I consumed ~<1g N-N DMT alone over the course of 1-2 weeks; having binges where I would take a hit, and after the effects, repeated. I experienced a tolerance build up which required me to consume more for the effects.

All of my trips were wonderfully pleasant, expect for the last 3 which were horrible. I've attributed these negative experiences to depression, anxiety, and large amounts of daily stressed which placed me in a negative state of mind, coupled with the use of psychedelics, the outcome would be nothing short of disastrous. I had a brief meeting with psychosis, in which I had feelings of ultimate entrapment, isolation, and a flood of core primal fears, causing me to yell for friends and family members as I ran to a staircase and began rolling on the floor. My mental health is returning to normal standing and I'm beginning to see myself in new positive light.

As a high IQ individual, I find myself over analyzing my feelings, actions, and experiences, and with my obsessive personality, I tend to enter recursive states of thought; which, depending on what I'm thinking about can be negative to my mental health.

I've been thinking obsessively about damage that I've caused which has caused a slew of mental and physical problems, such as the worrying thought that I've caused permanent memory loss, causing me to forget things at an excessive rate. After months of this nonsense, I'm already ready to let it all go and move on with my life. I've been working on getting myself in good physical health so I could administer Cerebrolysin for overall neural nourishment.

Questions:

I'm concerned about a few things.

1. Physiological brain damage
2. Memory Loss
3. Any possible damage either physical or mental

I've been exercising, eating well, and taking supplements such as lions mane, fish oil, bacopa, D3, and other nutritional items. I've been applying things such as neuro-linguistic programming to help rebuild my mind. I do understand that DMT is non-neurotoxic, and in the event that my product did have trace amounts of napthalene, that the amount was negligible and compare the consumption to the harmful effects of smoking or breathing in polluted air.

I think you'll be fine in some more time. Obviously you over did it but I don't think there is any permanent damage.

sounds like you went way out into hyperspace, but in my experience you will return to baseline no worries, what did you discover on your journeys, what happened on the 3 bad trips to classify them as bad ?

where you able to direct the bad trips back into a more positive direction or were you just strapped in along for the ride so to speak. ?

i am interested as i am building up to an extended visit to the elves myself.

The bad trip lasted for the duration of the experience. My second trip was a repeat of my first one, I had the same negative thoughts, settings, and music - as such, that experience was no surprise. My third experience, I consumed a small hit mixed with weed and experienced a dark trip. Since then, I have not taken anymore DMT. Since my experiences, I feel detached from friends, family, and reality -- to the extent that I see its flaws, the inadequacies, and it's possible dark future, and worry if we will ever reach the Singularity.

I wouldn't suspect there's been any damage at all, at worst your lungs probably took a bit of a beating.

You mention you tend to over-analyze your thoughts, emotions, actions and whatnot; this more then likely is your biggest concern as it will probably lead you to all sorts of conclusions about your current mental health, i went through a similar period in my life a couple of years ago.

Psychedelics, particularly DMT because of the shear intensity have a strong tendency to completely 'un-ground' the individual for prolonged periods of time which can have an effect on memory and cognitive abilities, but this is temporary.. the focus now should be on 'grounding' yourself, this can be reinforced through physical activities and been outside involved in the world, your essentially re-connecting with reality.

In my experience you don't completely come back to reality as soon as the effects wear off, it's a process and this process can take longer depending on the individuals conscious efforts. Some people have solid establishments within the physical that anchor them quicker then others.. for some like myself, which had no solid foundation to come back to.. had to make a conscious effort over time to re-connect. Time is on your side here.. just focus on you and if you can avoid any psychedelics or psychoactives as they will only serve to act as a hurdle.

Definitely nothing to worry about.... a gram in a few weeks isnt too much... I and several others I know will smoke over a gram of changa in one sitting, that is about half a gram of DMT in one session of several back to back blast offs every 10 to 15 minutes....

I always feel back to normal after I get some sleep

What you are experiencing sounds like typical anxiety after something intense. Don't give in to the craziness, just have faith that everything is fine, and stop thinking about if it is or not.

DMT is the psychedelic I recommend to people for their first psychedelic now because its so gentle yet intense.

Seriously, I wouldn't worry about having smoked that amount of DMT, I wouldn't worry at all unless you smoked like more than 3 grams of changa (a gram and a half of DMT ) IN ONE SITTING , and then its not cause for concern, its merely uncharted territory....

Studies of Ayahuasca users in South America has shown them to be psychologically and physically healthier than the rest of the population. Obviously smoked DMT has not been very well studied, but there is no proposed action by which it could be harmful either.
