TEXARKANA, Texas (AP) - A fired Northeast Texas police officer who injected his wife with animal-euthanizing drugs has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The Texarkana Gazette (http://bit.ly/13LzzTM ) reports ex-Hooks police Sgt. David Horn pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated assault with serious bodily injury and family violence involving a weapon. Horn also pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and threatening with a deadly weapon in last October's attack at the couple's home.

Misty Horn was found by her daughter, Alicia Stivers, who was at the residence with Brandon Brown. Investigators say Horn pointed a gun at Brown as he tried to stop the syringe attack.

Authorities say Horn had access to the drugs in his role as a Hooks animal control officer.

He was fired after being arrested. Misty Horn later divorced her spouse.

Pets are almost always euthanized by intravenous injection, typically using a very high dose of pentobarbital or sodium thiopental.

As I understand it, nobody really makes thiopental any more. The American company that did make it has stopped because they are opposed to the US using it to execute humans:

And for the same reason, the EU has banned its manufacture:

I hope this doesn't mean that animals are suffering through painful euthanasias.

Which "Horn" was that? The guy who attacked his wife tried to stop his own attack??
Or his wife is a male??

The daughter walked in on the attack with her friend Brandon Brown. Brown tried to stop Horn from the attack against his wife with the syringe and Horn (the husband) then pointed a gun at Brown.

What a fucker, the drug is called euthanol and its phenytoin and pentobarbitol. Plus i think now a days it has bright dye in it so its easily id'd. Since cops are held to a way higher standard they should get much lengthier sentences than civilians and that just doesnt seem to be the case. Ah well, at least we know the next ten years of his life will be pure hell since they know hes a disgraced sgt.

Edit. Uick look and in its called euthasol, its also called fatal plus lmao. But there are blue versions and pink versions. The phenytoin shuts down the brain and the pentobarbital shuts down everything else.
