Former Arapahoe sheriff arrested on meth dealing charge

Former Arapahoe County Sheriff Patrick Sullivan was arrested today on charges of trying to trade drugs to a man for sex, as investigators monitored the deal.

Drug task force officers were "visually monitoring" the deal when the 68-year-old retired cop delivered meth to an Aurora home and sought sex in return, said current Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson.

"This shows that no one is above the law, particularly a current or a former peace officer," said Robinson.

Robinson said Sullivan had an ongoing relationship with the man and others he had a history of bonding out of jails in the metro region.

Sullivan is being held on a $250,000 bond in the jail that bears his name, the Patrick J. Sullivan Jr. Detention Facility. He was sheriff from 1984 until his retirement in 2002.



This wouldn't be that unusual of a story except the suspect in question was not just a deputy, but head of the sheriff's department for many years. They even named the jail that they are holding him in after him.
 
A well-known former Colorado sheriff accused of trading drugs in exchange for sex is now sitting in a jail named after him.

Former Arapahoe County Sheriff Patrick Sullivan, a one-time national "Sheriff of the Year," is facing felony charges for allegedly using and distributing methamphetamine in exchange for sex, according to authorities.

Sullivan is currently behind bars at a jail bearing his name, the Patrick J. Sullivan, Jr. Detention Facility, according to Fox affiliate KDVR-TV.

On Wednesday, Arapahoe County chief judge William Sylvester doubled the bond for Sullivan. He also ordered Sullivan not to try to contact anyone else who may be involved in the case.

The investigation began on Nov. 17 when several people came forward with claims that Sullivan, 68, was selling the drug in exchange for sex.

According to investigators, Sullivan "arranged to meet an adult male acquaintance and agreed to provide the (man) with methamphetamine in exchange for a sexual encounter," the station reported.

He was taken into custody after allegedly providing methamphetamine to the man.

Why do I love this so much?

He got what was coming to him. (Or he'll be getting it soon)

Fuck people who say that drugs are evil, and hurt drug users in the name of the war on drugs - but are secret drug users themselves.
If they had the balls (ovaries?) to stand up and say what they believed, the drug war would have been over long ago.
 
^ For real, I think its so ironic when they get an asshole like this for doing exactly what he busted others for. He will hopefully spend the rest of his life in prison, hopefully he is discovered and gets his just desserts in there.
 
In a way I sort of hope that its not true and its just a prisoner got caught with dope and is claiming the sheriff brought it to him. Thats just a shame to law enforcement officers everywhere IMO. Not saying I love the police, I am sort of glad they are their even if they be on some bullshit a lot, but its really so hypocritical of the cop. I bet he got that shit of somebody else he arrested and now the shits coming around full circle.
 
I think the real point is that this was not a police officer or a deputy, but the actual head sheriff of the department for 18 years. This is in a county in Colorado widely known to be especially harsh on drug offenders and almost always seeks enhanced sentencing on repeat offenders whether or not their crimes actually warrant it. Arapahoe County's version of justice compared to a more urban county like Denver is unnecessarily punitive and serves only to bolster the clearance rate of the DA, Carol Chambers.
 
Holy shit the jail is named after him! That's probably never happened. That's like Dr. Parkinson getting Parkinson's.
 
When I glanced at the title, I thought they finally took down that racist asshole Sheriff Joe Aripaio. Stil, this shits fucking hilarious. The SHERIFF getting caught gay tricking with meth, the evil demon drug.
