You go through the physical withdrawl even if you are in a coma.
Look up rapid detox...
By now his physical withdrawl has passed, but that does not mean that he is out of the woods with "withdrawl"
The mental process is going to get rolling now and that is the highest mountain to climb....if in fact he even wants to climb anything.
Also, because you are an opiate addict does not mean that you do not feel pain. It also does not mean that you will never need opiate pain medication, it means that you will need to be monitered VERY closely my a doctor.
Asking for Ativan is not a bad sign, it could mean he knows he is stressing about the situation (after all, it has been an ordeal for him as well) and wants to calm himself, keep the jitters in check.

hey everyone-Just wanted to let you know Dave is still doing OK. He still has pnemonia and its not clearing up so good, but slowly but surely. Dave is very unhappy right now...I can tell when I look at him that he's really sad and lonely. It really sucks. He is asking for Xanax and stuff now....hopefully just to sleep through the withdrawel, I dont really know. I dont know if he wants to get better or not...I dont know much. Anyway, he's still working on trying to stand/walk. He is still tube fed and stuff.....things are just taking time. I'll keep you guys posted....if anyone has any information about heroin recovery I'd be interested. I know its different for everyone, I don't know. Thanks for caring.

Awesome news I'm glad he's doing alot better. Withdrawl is hard I can only imagine what your bro is going through. I'm just going to keep sending positive energy and support. Thanks Daveslilsis for all the updates, I'm sure we all appreciate it.

he'll come around. it may be unpleasant. but if anyone is tough enough to handle it, its probably him. though, do him a favor and get the ativan. he knows damn well it can be a helpful tool to calm the nerves while dealing with something as torturous as severe withdrawal, and theres virtually nil possibility of abusing it (esp when under a hospital administered setting)... i think abusing something is about the last thing on his mind right now.

I know just how fragile life is because I almost lost mine and cost the lives of 2 of my other best friends. And all I gotta say is that I pray that Phreex will make it through because through all the materialistic bullshit in human life. The only thing that really means anything is LIFE itself. I am sad and so are a lot of people over how Phreex is doin, but at the same time we have to celebrate that we at least got to know someone like Phreex. Some of you may wonder why I'm referring to Dave as Phreex and the reason why is because I never got to meet this cool person. And because of that I will refer to him as phreex a bluelighter that I never met. Because even though I never met him knowing that he stands for the same thing I do makes him feel like family to me. *tear*
Phreex...if you can hear me...carry this with you. There are a lot of bluelighters you haven't met. But we all still care about you for being a big part of what we are all a part of. Death is something everyone has to go through, some people catch a glimpse of death then come back to join their friends and family. And I hope that you are one of those people. But if you're not, may the lord be with you and forgive you for all your sins and I hope you watch down upon us. We will remember you and through all your tragedies, your tragedies will teach a lot of people life lessons.

Im glad to know phreex is doing better, i hope the rest of his recovery goes well, i have never gotten to talk to him although i have been tempted and wanted to get his advice many times, i just hope he will stick around so maybe i can still have that chance, prayers go out to you and yours.
