Every parent's worst nightmare: how ketamine killed our daught

Saying "Darwinism at Work" would be fucked up if I said it to her family, but I didn't. I don't know the girl, and neither do any of you, and her family will never see this, so we can put our emotions aside and look at this situation objectively for what it is:

Don't do drugs that make you pass out in the bath tub.

Yes, I've done stupider shit, and lived, and for that, I am lucky.

I agree with this.

I am the first one to always yell at BLers when they don't show sympathy (even for the enemies like the DEA and such), but in this case the girl should of just done her goddamn homework man. If someone cuts a line out for you what do you do? I typically ask "what is that" "How much should I do" "What does it do?" and the like. If the girl had done this she would of known that it was a 'tranqulizer' that she was using.

Knowing that little bit of information she should of known that getting in a bathtub is a really bad idea when medicated or dosed on something that has the potential to make you fall asleep. Hell taking a bath is relaxing enough, taking a bath when on anything that makes you fall asleep is quite stupid.

I'm sure alot of people aren't happy to see her dead, they are upset at the ridiculousness of the article and the way ketamine/her death is being portrayed. Its sad, but this type of bullshit article can lead to more harm in the drug community

UK - The rise and dangers of 'party drug' ketamine

Louise Cattell vowed to her mother that she would never touch drugs - two years before the 21-year-old fashion student's narcotics-related death in a flat in Hackney. Olga Craig reports on the alarming rise in popularity of the 'party drug' ketamine.
"Grief just hits you in waves. No one, I think, apart from a parent who has lost a child, can truly understand the grief of that loss. It’s indescribable. It’s those moments when suddenly you come across something familiar, and then you feel terrible.”

In the wake of the ban on party drug mephedrone last April, ketamine has swiftly filled the void. Until the 1990s, ketamine – called K or Special K by users – was generally known only as an anaesthetic. Then it hit the rave scene. Its popularity, in part because it is cheap (£6 for one gram) and readily available, has soared, and it is estimated there are about 125,000 users in the UK. Over the past year, there has been a 68 per cent increase in the volume of calls to Addaction, a drug charity, seeking advice on the drug, and since 1993 it has caused 23 deaths. Yet, because it has a low rating as a Class C drug (ecstasy is Class A, cannabis Class B), naive youngsters wrongly believe it to be relatively safe.

Reclassification, however, is unlikely to combat the drug’s popularity. As Val Curran, professor of psychopharmacology at University College, London, points out, this rarely affects the popularity of a drug among users. “When we ask people what would change their use of drugs, the reasons that come bottom out of 20 are always their parents finding out and the classification of the drug.”

“It’s the regular takers who are the major concern. It has the opposite effect from that of ecstasy. It makes you withdraw socially. In a club, the people on ecstasy will be dancing, but the people on K will be flat on the floor and deep into their own psyche.”

Well they obviously aint seen me move about on bumps of k have they
XD

They had drunk wine then taken the drug, which dramatically dulls the senses, before Louise decided to have a bath

... I Don't wanna sound harsh, but natural selection at work?

It's not even a question of education or information, just common sense. You don't need to be a genius to realize that taking a drug that can cause you to lose consciousness in the bath could potentially end very badly.

It's still horrible and tragic for everybody around her that she died, but you can't really blame K. She could have died just as easily if she'd been drinking.

Really? Almost everyone I know who uses K uses it in a party setting almost exclusively. Either small doses combined with other drugs (generally MDMA or meth) at clubs/raves/concerts/festivals, or in higher doses at the afterparty when coming down off other drugs. I'd say that qualifies it as a 'party drug.'

Dissociatives aren't party drugs, you don't see people doing PCP or Nitrous at parties do you? No. Nor do you see anyone doing DXM, Ibogaine, or any other dissociative at parties. Rolling around like a retard on the floor laughing at the ceiling thinking you're seeing Jebus doesn't make a good party.

Just because you're having fun with a couple(or even a lot of) friends doesn't make it a party. I get baked with a couple friends almost every weekend and it's NOT a party.

Sorry, I'm gonna have to disagree. I've attended (and thrown) multiple nitrous parties, which are usually a big success until Milo turns blue and hits his head on the coffee table.

It took me a moment to realize you weren't being sarcastic :|

People do nitrous at parties all the time. In fact much like K, I'd say it's primarily used in that setting. It's a ton of fun at parties, either in combination with other drugs or as a follow up when coming down off other drugs.

Not so much DXM, that's true, and Ibogaine is so obscure it hardly counts.
Rolling around like a retard on the floor laughing at the ceiling thinking you're seeing Jebus doesn't make a good party.

Apparently you and I differ greatly on our opinion of what makes a good party :/ Many of my most enjoyable party memories have involved either Nitrous or K at some stage during the night.

You're all pretty naive for stoners. You can have a salvia "party" but it's not a real party, and it doesn't make saliva a drug. A bunch of people getting together and getting high does not a party drug make. Party drugs are fun enhancers like E that people use at places like raves and concerts to have more fun.

People don't bring nitrous, ketamine, PCP, or any other dissociative to concerts or raves or anything like that. They bring E, bud, or all these new "party pills" that make things more fun or help you stay up and rave all night.

Honestly, if you're all going to continue to be this arrogant I'm not going to argue with you, just because a bunch of people get high on the same thing doesn't make it a party drug. Ketamine is not a party drug.

Ketamine is my preferred party drug. Not K-hole doses, of course.

Nitrous is infamous for being brought via tank form to festivals and parties. Don't knock it until you've tried it, and just don't anesthetize yourself.

Yeah, seriously? There's this thread about nitrous, and ketamine was, and probably still is pretty popular at raves in the UK.

All i'm gonna say to the angry guy is, ever heard the term after-party?

When it starts gettin late and everybodys coming down i've been to countless house parties full of people smashed on K or toking some nitrous. & I'd class 30+ people havin a good time in one place a party. Sorry if it doesn't live up to your stringent pary rules.
