Every now and again I wonder what it would have been like
If our paths would have crossed
If you were here
or if I were there
If the sun had been shining a little brighter
had the stars been twinkling a little faster
had the waves been higher
or the tree's been taller
now things are different then they used to be
because today is a new day
and things have to be different
and again, i look back and wonder
but there's not point in looking back
unless you can turn around and change the way things were
so now, I suppose, I must look forward
because there is no where else to gaze
but I look back one more time
to look at you one, for one brief moment
and then I let the wind carry me
holding me in its arms
but every now and again
I can't help but look back

Perhaps you need to glance back now and then. If you don't, and you find yourself at that path again, you'll need the past to help you determine your own future. Everything we learn merely helps us prepare for the next lesson. Or something deep and poetic like that.

I can't help but look back
every now and then, i pick one of my favorite authors and just dig back into the archives to reread their best works... and this, i do believe, was one of my all-time spencer favorites

hrmmm...I don't know how I missed this one..all those could have beens' what would have beens' live always in ones mind. It always puzzles me that in the end, will we look back and be able to piece together what is unknown to us know..why don't aren't we given the power to do it now....I guess cause life wouldn't be so confusing..but if it wasn't confusing we would learn nothing...but your are right to allow the wind to carry you along..somethings carry more meaning then they let on..
