I got ratted out by a super-straight relative for growing 40 plants in my greenhouse 24 years ago. Copped one of the biggest fines ever dished out ($1500AUD) for simple possess and cultivate because the cops couldn't prove intent to sell or supply. Numbers and weight weren't a big factor back then. Ironic thing was most of the evidence (photo albums, grow records, vacuum jars, a small library of reference books etc) was handed back to me after the trial
. That was then. Last year an oppo had a roach found in the ashtray of his car during a random breath test. Over-zealous cop + roach = probable cause for search! A pet JP signed off on a search warrant and oppo went down for a 'sophisticated hydroponic operation' that netted two (2) regenerating females 'showing signs of recent harvesting'. Add to that the sandwich bags and a set of kitchen scales they also seized and I think you can join the dots. No dried or stored bud was found. He shelled out nearly $6000 AUD in fines, copped 120 hours of Community Service and had his name and details splashed on page 3 of the local newspaper. Ouch! But, as Free-wheelin' Franklin famously said - "Dope in times of no money is better than money in times of no dope." Anyone else felt the long arm of the law?
