a year ago i went to my local (1 minute walk) liquor store, where i used to buy 40s every fucking day, and where they never checked my ID other than the first few times, and went up to the counter with a couple steel reserves and dude says (in broken english) "i must see id, i know you're good but lot of police in here" (so i'm sitting there like WTF dude just called me a cop) i pull out my ID, he scans it on some machine and the fucking machine said it was fake (it's not) so i left and never went back. (fuck em)

it didn't make any sense because i'd bought, i dunno, a few hundred 40s from there, which would have probably got them shut down if i WAS a cop, and i alternate between looking like a thug or psychotic lunatic depending on how much drugs i'm using.

but ya just curious if this ever happened to anyone else.

he didn't call you a cop, he just said he would normally be okay if you were underage but now he has to check id because the cops are making him. wait til you're 21 to go back.

Yeah treezy he wasn't saying you were a cop, just needed your ID cos they're being watched.
And why the hell couldn't he physically look at your ID if the machine malfunctioned?
That's the fucked up part- be glad you look youthful though. :)

He did look at the ID- apparently thought it was fake and his scanner confirmed it. Occam's razor.

If you really are over 21, sue him. I'm sure you'll find a lawyer to take that action on commission.

My friend's grandma once got in trouble for selling cigs to an undercover who bought them without showing an ID.

My regular liquor store kept getting closed down for a month at a time for selling to minors. You'd think they'd learn. Happened at least 3 times within a year.

He didn't call you a cop, just trying to keep his business.

You were probably just too spaced out to understand that, which was also probably one of the reasons why the guy was reluctant to sell to you, maybe hes prejudiced against people who look like they're drug users. Or are high out of their minds inside his store. He might've had problems with spaced out people before.

right you are.. i wasn't thinking of that at the time. different drugs of choice exhibit, lets say, different symptoms thought

maybe they look down on their customers, I wouldn't be surprised

No but I have been to stores blatantly high on various drugs for example shit tons of cocaine and had the clerk refuse to sell me alcohol because my id looks fake (I got it wet). I'm about to be 23 though and I look maybe 26 so I don't get carded much. Take it as a compliment.

he might have thought you were already drunk and if there was a cop in the vicinity and the guy has a history of incidents with alcohol sales then he might have just been playing it safe.

when he scanned it are you saying the machine said "its fake" or the machine just couldnt read it at all and that made him determine the ID was fake? because if your card is faded out it might take a lot of maneuvering to scan and some just wont scan. in that case he should have just read the front but idk
