I noticed there wasn't a thread about the sport I love most and am quite passionate about: football (sorry Americans, I won't call it soccer =D).

Anyhow what leagues do you follow (European mainly; Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga, Eredivisie etc) and what are your favourite teams? Which is your favourite player? Which team has the best supporters? The best tifo's?

I start with myself. My favourite team is Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs). I kind of "accidentally" started supporting them in the early 90's when I visited England and our relatives there. One of the relatives was a passionate Spurs supporter and gave me a "Tottenham Hotspur - The Pride of North London" scarf. I still have it in my room. Of the Spurs players, my favourites are Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale - both ligtning fast energetic players.

This season was both unbeliavable as Spurs played in the Champions League for the first time and got to play against some real giants like Inter, AC Milan and Real Madrid, beating both Inter and AC Milan. Advancing to be one of the top 8 teams in Europe was just fantastic after all years of "forever nearly". On the other hand, the Premier League had some very bad moments and finishing 5th left "us" out of the Champions League next year.

I'm also a fan of AIK from Stockholm, a club I got introduced to by a Swedish friend a long time ago. I regularly visit Stockholm and watch their games.

Oh BTW, feel free to discuss European Championships too :)

So, anyone interested in the most popular, beautiful and passionate game on Earth? :) If there is an interest to talk about football more globally, I don't have anything against broadening the topic to football everywhere in the world. I know football has become more popular in the US too, which is very nice.

Finally a fellow Spurs fan on this forum! Long have I waited for this day to come haha

Yes, this season was amazing, never felt pride (in my life in general) to the extent of when we beat Inter, the euphoria was reminiscent of mdma, all from a football match haha

I'm hoping for a nice new striker pairing this summer, hopefully one of which will be FC Porto's Falcao (I can dream :p) Wouldn't mind Crouch or Defoe leaving, Pav i don't mind, he can get a goal out of anything on his day and that's good to have around. I think the most important thing is that we keep Modric, absolutely the most important player for us atm, amazing player.
Another highlight of this season has been the emergence of Sandro, what an absolute beast, excellent buy, and apparently we are trying to buy a striker from his old club internacional, Leandro Damião. I've heard good things about him but don't know how well he'd do in the premiership etc.

Best supporters? Anyone watching Spurs' games in europe this year will be able to answer that ;) (Bundesliga seems to be very good for brilliant atmosphere, especially Borussia Dortmund from what I've watched)

Worst, without a doubt a certain team from Woolwich, silent plastic fans, I've heard more noise in a library.

anyway COYS :D

spurs will have a tough time holding on to their top 2 players bale and modric this season,if they go spurs in all probability will have no chance in finishing anywhere amongst the top4.
