i could tell you many things about this day
about gods and their wills
of callings to safer havens
and lives beyond this one
we may never quantify
but the happiness that we cannot touch
will only make us sadder

talk of these things will bring no comfort
for i have stood before on that barren shore
where once there flowed water
now stands salt
burning its way through raw furrows in the skin

i can only tell you what you already know
that there will always be an end
and it will always feel like this

but let me tell you what we all have forgotten
we are made to hold these emotions
it is our burdon to feel all things
our right to feel this pain
how very proud we should be
to let this life run though our minds
and pass as tears
through our still red eyes

quite an ending, i was anticipating a powerfully worded ending, and you delivered, YAY, if not your best, high in the ranks.

Lovely. The last stanza is amazing: eloquent and understated, it stirs the heart while at the same time stirring the dust of existence.

These lines also are powerfully evocative:
