Etizolam Rising in Popularity in the UK

Never actually had lorazepam, so I couldn't tell you. It looks like my cup of tea, benzo-wise, but I've never been offered any. Nor gone out of my way to acquire it.

I cant even take these for 2 days now without terrible anxiety for a few days after, hate the things now.

Lorazepam is primarily an anxiolytic/anticonvulsant benzo, I've been scripted it, along with diaz, temazepam, nitrazepam, loprazolam, chlordiazepoxide and a few others at one time or another, loprazolam seemed like lorazepams bigger, beefier brother, with more in the way of hypnotic effect, but I still found both of them kind of 'bland', as are chlordiazepoxide (weak crap if ever there was a benzo shittier than oxazepam, librium is probably it), and diazepam/desmethyldiazepam.

Of them all, nitrazepam is probably my favourite rx-only benzo, its got a kick like an angry mule, and is long, long acting, very strongly hypnotic, one of the few benzos I've always found very reliable.

Although I recommend an older sedative/hypnotic, chlormethiazole. Its often used in alcohol detoxes, as it inhibits the metabolism of alcohol, resulting in the patient's last drinking bender not to level off so abruptly. It does make a great conventional downer though, I get it on rx, and its better by FAR than any benzo I've ever tried, and I have tried quite a few different ones, easy to make, too, if one can obtain or prepare thionyl chloride, its just two steps from vitamin B1 (thiamine), cleavage with aqueous bisulfite to precipitate the intermediate thiazolethanol, then chlorination of the alcohol using thionyl chloride, workup shouldn't be too difficult either, as chlormethiazole is an oily liquid with poor solubility in H2O, and volatile. I imagine the base might well be distillable at atmospheric pressure, if not then a vacuum distillation will certainly suffice.

Its a bugger to form stable salts out of it though, the commercial salt form (its more commonly put up in thick gelcaps which resist the corrosive influence chlormethiazole base has upon plastics (it eats right through many plastics), but the ethanedisulfonate (edisylate) salt is stable, as is, reportedly, the phosphate.

Been meaning to give the brominated homolog, or trifluoroethyl/TFM derivatives a try sometime, I just need to get round to the thionyl chloride, and get a new acid gas filter for my mask, actually, I think its a new mask I need, the one I have, the company stopped making new replacement canisters for masks of the type I wear and only the organic vapor types are available now.

SOCl2 isn't exactly pleasant stuff, and definitely not to be accidentally inhaled.

If trying the chlormethiazole though, scripted, made, or otherwise, do NOT drink on it especially, and don't combine with other sedatives, this one is not benzo- or Z-drug-like in action, but more like a barbiturate, its got a hell of a kick to it, and unlike a benzo OD, OD on this one and your likely not to wake up again.

Appropriate cautions aside, it really is the best GABAa-allosterically modulating downer (AFAIK at the barbiturate binding site) that I've ever had the pleasure of using, definitely preferable to all benzodiazepines, and to some of the barbs themselves, although I don't have a huge lot of experience with those, but still, nicer than the ones I have had. Never tried methaqualone (yet, that is), but I'd love to compare the two side by side (not at the same time, mind you). This drug has always performed absolutely brilliantly, I've had a prescription for it for a few years now, taking 1x192mg caps twice a day, without any physical dependency to it arising. Even now, after at least 3 years, probably a couple more than that in fact, I can still cease taking, or hold off on dosing it if I wish to do so without withdrawal symptoms arising. I find the extent that chlormethiazole hasn't become a monkey on my back to be quite surprising. I sometimes take a day, or two days off in any one week, but even if I don't, or want to use the occasional benzos (I don't really tend to abuse benzos, they are mostly pleasant, oxazepam and things that metabolize to it not withstanding) then I can get away with it, although nevertheless I'm still cautious with respect to the possibility for a rather nasty withdrawal syndrome, or investigate the occasional novelty that comes my way, or that I read about.

In spite of the slightly steep dose-response curve and the fact that it cannot be gorged on like someone could get away with with benzos/Z-drugs I've found chlormethiazole the most forgiving, tolerance/dependency-wise, and without the smallest hint of competition from other GABAa-PAMs from the entire lot. Only GABAergic drug I like better is muscimol, a bit of an oddball, for binding competitively with GABA, as a orthosteric agonist, selective, aside from its partial agonism at GABAc receptors.

Obviously you know of the extreme dangers of Chlormethiazole (aka. Clomethiazole - The reason for stating such is justified below) Limpet (hello there to you by the by! Long time no read matey :)~<3 ) but to those who don't, have a lil' read of this quote....

In mid-1978 [Keith] Moon moved into a flat in Curzon Place (later Curzon Square), Shepherd Market, Mayfair, London, renting from Harry Nilsson. Cass Elliot had died there four years earlier;[133][134] Nilsson was concerned about letting the flat to Moon, believing it was cursed. Townshend disagreed, assuring him that "lightning wouldn't strike the same place twice".[135]

After moving in, Moon began a prescribed course of Heminevrin (clomethiazole, a sedative) to alleviate his alcohol withdrawal symptoms. He wanted to get sober, but due to his fear of psychiatric hospitals he wanted to do it at home. Clomethiazole is discouraged for unsupervised detoxification because of its addictive potential, its tendency to induce tolerance and its risk of death when mixed with alcohol.[136] The pills were prescribed by Geoffrey Dymond, a physician who was unaware of Moon's lifestyle. Dymond prescribed a bottle of 100 pills, instructing him to take one pill when he felt a craving for alcohol but not more than three pills per day.[137]

By September 1978 Moon was having difficulty playing the drums, according to roadie Dave "Cy" Langston. After seeing Moon in the studio trying to overdub drums for The Kids Are Alright, he said: "After two or three hours, he got more and more sluggish, he could barely hold a drum stick."[138]

On 6 September Moon and Walter-Lax were guests of Paul and Linda McCartney at a preview of the film, The Buddy Holly Story. After dining with the McCartneys at Peppermint Park in Covent Garden, Moon and Walter-Lax returned to their flat. He watched a film (The Abominable Dr. Phibes), and asked Walter-Lax to cook him steak and eggs. When she objected, Moon replied "If you don't like it, you can fuck off!" These were his last words.[133] Moon then took 32 clomethiazole tablets. When Walter-Lax checked on him the following afternoon, she discovered he was dead.[139]

Curbishley phoned the flat at around 5 pm looking for Moon, and Dymond gave him the news. Curbishley told Townshend, who informed the rest of the band. Entwistle was giving an interview to French journalists when he was interrupted by a phone call with the news of Moon's death. Trying to tactfully and quickly end the interview, he broke down and wept when the journalist asked him about The Who's future plans.[140]

Moon's death came shortly after the release of Who Are You. On the album cover, he is straddling a chair to hide his weight gain; the words "Not to be taken away" are on the back of the chair.[141]

Police determined that there were 32 clomethiazole pills in Moon's system. Six were digested, sufficient to cause his death; the other 26 were undigested when he died.
..... When I read that... As much as I would love to try them out.... just, woh...

And this is why the man is a legend <3

(that and the nodding so hard he needed to be shot up with methamphetamine by a roadie mid-gig and not missing a beat anyway)

Rip Keith!!!
She should've just made the fucking steak and he still might be with us!!!

Yeah, I know it is toxic in overdose, but really, from experience (and a lot of it at that :P ) I just think of it as a drug that should be treated with the same care one would a barbiturate, or one of the other 'back in the day' downers you don't see much these days.

Part of the danger comes from it blocking the metabolism of alcohol (I think it inhibits alcohol [not aldehyde, ala antabuse] dehydrogenase) ONE drink or just two can be enough in combination with a quite moderate dose of heminevrin to hit like a runaway truck and dump the user flat on their arse in bed.

And I think that the 6-capsule fatality figure is over-alarmist when the chlormethiazole is taken on its own or without other sedatives, taking, for the sake of my being dyscalculic to a ridiculous degree, the 192mg contained per dose unit as 200 thats just 1.2g. I've had it up to around a gram, give or a take a bit either way and just been hammered as pish without ever feeling like I was in any danger from respiratory depression, etc.

But 32 of the things....damn the crazy bastard. That would probably put a rhino out for the count!

Low doses of it though, don't half potentiate my opiate nods, although I won't take more than 4 of the things if I'm doing opioids, its made it in the past, so rather than loading a huge rig with a quarter gram of morph plus a few oxys, 60-90mg morphine and 10-20mg of oxy has had me nodding off for hours before just falling into a good long sleep.

Not too short acting, not TOO long either (like say, phenobarb for instance), maybe it would be nice if it lasted a few hours longer, but its more or less right in the sweet spot IMO.

One to be aware of the dangers with, and treat responsibly, yes, but I wouldn't call chlormethiazole 'extremely' dangerous. GHB/GBL is far, far worse.

And I disagree with the statement that it is a bugger for tolerance/dependency, I've been on it for a good several years now, sometimes taking a bit more on a given day, but at 192mg BD either per os, or plugged I have noted literally speaking, NO tolerance or physical dependency. I already took mine tonight, but if I had chosen not to do so, I wouldn't feel any withdrawals. I don't know about other peoples exp. with it used regularly (daily) but I haven't had any problems. If it had been a benzo I most certainly would withdraw once sufficient half lives had elapsed to leave my tanks empty and my GABA system running on fumes.

GHB/GBL are both FAR more dangerous than chlo(r)methiazole IMO, massively greater dependency-proneness and much steeper dose-response curve.

Maybe I'm overenthusiastic about the stuff, but I don't think so, its just a top notch hypnotic. Where benzos, valerian, some of the barbs even, fail at times to put me out when I want, and NEED some sleep right then and there, chlormethiazole has never yet failed to do its job with flying colors.

Great fucking stuff:)

Hi
After a little experience with diazepam, I decided to try out diclazepam. I was taking these for weeks and found that these where great but didn't pack the same punch that diazepam did.. Even though these could be horrible with blackouts.
So I did some research and found that etizolam is very strong and better than diclazepam.
So I have ordered some powder of this chemical and plan to weigh it out carefully to make some bombs for myself. Hopefully I can have fun with this as I came off diazepam and diclazepam very easily and haven't taken any benzodiazepines in over a month. But I do miss the feeling and benefits.. I sometimes get bad insomnia and mild anxiety so taking some benzodiazepine at the end of a day can really help, even when not taking all day every day.
So yeah, does anyone have any advice when taking etizolam? The worst I would do is mix these this alcohol. But since abusing nasty M-Cat in the past I have learnt a lot of self control with everything that I take. Even though I'm very sober now compared with what I use to be like.
Thanks anyway for the advice (if I get any.. Lol)

trying to weigh out miligram doses of etiz powder will be next to impossible. Most scales arent accurate to within + or - 10 mg so each capsule could have anything from 5-20mg in it, and 20 mg would floor all but those with a very high tolerance. Volumetric liquid measurement, using propylene glycol is the way to go, get some disposable 2ml oral syringes at 3p each, and 500 ml of pg is about a fiver off ebay and you could make a 1mg of etiz to 1 ml of pg solution quite easily by warming the pg slightly in a container inside warm water it will dissolve easier. But will still need shaking thoroughly every time before you use your mix.

Hey, thanks for the response
Well the powder is coming tomorrow so I will probably test a bomb carefully and see what I can do. I'm be never worked with such small amounts of chemicals so I guess it will be hard. I have heard about liquid being used to be able to dissolve and split the powder. But I know it isn't dissolvable in water or much really. You recommend PG liquid yeah? Which is the same as is in e-liquid?
Can I evaporate it all easily to remain with the correct amount of powder to bomb like a pill?
Thanks anyway, I only bought powder because it was so much cheaper than the pills. I guess it will be an experiment first and I'll see what to do after the powder, weather it's worth the extra for the ready made pills.

its dangerous to so casually experiment with powders strongly active at sub milligram doses especially as you sound quite new to benzos. Please do not mix the etiz with anything else, especially other downers or you could easily be brown bread. Etiz on its own is relatively safe in terms of OD risk, you could just black out for a whole day or something if you take too much, please bear that in mind. But freak reactions can and do occur. You probably wont realise how fucked you are and what accidents could befall you. This isnt the way to experiment with benzos by bombing eyeballed doses of etiz powder:| Find your tolerance and measure your powder in PG for christs sake. Christ i sound like a nanny on here tonight, but i cant let all these reckless posts just go without any comment. If you fall down the stairs and break your head at least i will have tried to ask you to consider a more sensible approach. Do you know how many members here have died over the last 3 or 4 years directly or indirectly due to drugs? its a lot, around 30 very well known and loved characters, and most of them were highly experienced and some of them were careful but they still ended up dying.
