whats the relation between these two? are they safe to take together provided sensible dosing? is it ok to take dxm at the tail end of a eph session? should a long time be left between consuming the two?

Wait a sec - DXM isn't a Norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.......

From the information I've gathered about DXM it's actually a non-selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor as well as a Sigma-1 receptor agonist and a NMDA receptor antagonist. From what I've researched - it actually has no effect on Norepinephrine what so ever.

there's no real evidence i can find that it is an NE reuptake inhibitor or has any real effect on dopamine either. Still sounds like an unpleasant as hell combo though. DXM through whatever mechanism is stimulating enough. I wouldn't risk it personally, even if it's theoretically safe, i don't think it would be a good time.

I thought dxm released serotonin or was an SRI which is why they say not to mix it with anti depressants or mdma for fear of serotonin syndrome? I'm not sure of ethylphenidates serotonin properties but that said, don't combine recreational doses of dxm with serotonin releasing drugs or possible serotonin syndrome may occur (not a pleasant experience).

Double checking you're right, that's what I get for quoting off of wiki, its NE effects are weak1...it even blocked PCP's NE action.2 So I reckon there's no meaningful activity there.

Guess I've been misinforming people. :o

lol I was gonna say.......

If DXM was as powerful of an NRI as it is an SRI - DXM would be one hell of a stimulant.

why is DXM so stimulating then? i can never get to sleep after using it. Maybe it's the same deal with MXE; though i'm not sure why that's so stimulating either.

DXM is either an SRI or a SE releaser, i don't remember but EPH has negligible effects on serotonin if not none at all. So yes, don't mix DXM with SSRIs, SNRIs, tramadol or MDMA and plenty of other drugs that either release serotonin or inhibit the reuptake of serotonin.

In any case, DXM + stims have always been a terrible combo IME, regardless of whether it's safe or not.

Have you ever heard of paradox in pharmacology?

It's a unique side effect of some drugs and it can happen to anyone at any point in time they take this drug. I have experienced paradoxical effects on Adderall myself. On three separate occasions - when I took my Adderall, I actually become very tired and unfocused at all.

Also on Ativan, I have experienced paradoxical effects on that as well. Instead of helping me sleep, it actually caused me to become manic and I was up for several days.

Anyways, my point is - it's possible that the stimulating effects of DXM are a paradox.
