ether & chloroform, any fun?

I hear of people abusing these solvents and I just want to know why. I can't see that anyone would get enjoyment out of this but I just wanted to be sure. Has anyone here got any experience with these? I know many of you are adept nitrous users?

heh, heh.
when commenting on the anaesthetic properties of diethyl ether, one of my profs said something about a "two-week hangover". i know nothing about this, but it might possibly happen when you do a huge amount of it, enough to lose consciousness.
anyway, i've done ether but not chloroform.
ether is fun. it feels kind of like a mixture of alcohol and K. you feel kind of numb and very fucked up. and get slurred speech.
it is not, however, like fear and loathing in las vegas. you cannot merely throw some ether on a rag, huff it, and be fucked up for hours. you have to do a rather large amount to feel anything (i went through 10 mL before anything happened), and it smells horrible. it also doesn't last very long, 10 minutes at the most, and you have to keep doing more to stay messed up. oh, and it gets very cold as you do it, as it evaporates.
ether is toxic and you should definitely not huff large amounts, although it's fairly safe as far as solvents go (which is not very safe..). it *does* have activity on actual receptors, rather than just destroying your brain by depriving it of oxygen.
if you're even considering doing ether you MUST be aware of how to handle it safely. it's an extremely dangerous substance. it MUST be stored in a cool, dark place, with NO exposure to any open flame or spark. the vapor is heavier than air and has been known to travel along the floor in an invisible cloud until it is ignited; so a spark on the other side of the room can cause an explosion. on exposure to UV light or oxygen, ether peroxidizes, and the peroxides are even more dangerous than ether itself because they can explode spontaneously. peroxide formation is especially common with the last tiny amount of ether left in a bottle, so an empty ether bottle may in fact be an extremely hazardous glass jar (amber glass, always!) of ethyl peroxide...
if you already know how to handle it, fine, but be careful with it. there are more fun drugs that don't explode.
chloroform: obviously i *could* do chloroform too, but i don't. i generally don't like the idea of anything with chlorine (except K!), and it's fairly toxic. as far as i know, it doesn't fuck you up, just makes you pass out, so i'm not really interested in doing it.
other solvents
acetone: my crackhead used to huff acetone. apparently it got him very fucked up. no doubt it killed large amounts of his brain as well. and he was a bored kid in a small town at the time, so i don't think anyone has any need to huff acetone.
toluene: last winter some homeless people who huffed toluene were always on the corner a couple blocks from me. there were always empty bottles of Toluol in the gutter and stuff. these people were *very fucked up* and drew crosses and hearts on walls.. one of the crosses said ELVIS under it. really.
that should be enough to convince you not to do toluene.
anyway overall i dont think solvents are a great idea.. except possibly for ether.. although even then you probably shouldnt do much.

While I won't advocate the use of ether, it certainly does not have a two-week hangover or anything resembling such. The comparison to ether to alcohol and K is fitting, as it does seem to have some effects in common with dissociatives.
There's a certain state you reach with higher doses of ether, that from my own experience and what I've read of others seems to be pretty universal, something about a cosmic joke and a couple entities, it's interesting and scary.

I hated ethyl ether. The first minute or 2 is very reminiscent of a k-hole.. then you're just fucked up for about 10-15 more minutes and then after it basically has worn off you feel weird for an additional 30-60 minutes.
As far as a hang over, I didn't get anything like that. The after effects definantly linger, but not for that long.

sadly, i used to enjoy using di-ethyl ether as a recreational substance.
sure, at the time it was fun, and felt virtually harmless, but looking back, i cant begin to fathom how stupid shit like that is. the hangovers on high 'doses' can be extremely horrible, and the brain damage after a week or two somewhat noticeable..
like seriously, there are a shitload of other better drugs out there, use them instead, trust me.. and damnit, if you need to get off on huffing something, stick your head in a tank of nitrous or something..

well i've tried it before it was fun but pointless to ever do again. But yes i had to try it once. Hell might as well run out to the store and get yourself some glue or paint-thinner. Those would do the trick too
