Hi guys,
I am a 26 year old male. When I was around 19-20 I took finasteride (propecia) and dutasteride for about a year, to combat perceived male pattern baldness. It was probably just my hair line receding as I matured, not necessarily baldness. I got the drugs off the internet. They are both DHT inhibitors. I think I took finasteride for about 9 months, sometimes on and off, and dutasteride for a few months.
I developed painful and puffy nipples (gyno) at the time, but I just kinda ignored it. They never progressed that much, but always bothered me. I'm otherwise lean and quite muscular, and look about 100x more muscular when its cold and my nipples are small, not big and puffy.
Now my friend pointed out to me recently that I have cellulite on the sides of my abdomen. It's not usually that visible apart from in a few places, but is really grossing me out and making me feel self conscious. It even goes up along the sides of my pectoral muscles a bit, when I push the skin together. I am quite lean, though have some small fat / skin rolls whilst sitting down. But my friends who pointed it out had much more fat on their sides but no visible weird skin dimpling of cellulite like me.
I looked on the internet and from what I've read, cellulite only usually occurs in "androgen deficient" males. It's due to an increased estrogen to testosterone ratio. And I've always known that gyno is also due to increased estrogen. I'm worried that my hormones are out of whack from using the DHT inhibitors, even though it was six years ago. However I've had my testosterone checked about a year ago, just to see what it was, and it's in the normal range. Perhaps it's just high estrogen.
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing, or treating symptoms of high estrogen? I'm not really interested in taking steroids, since I feel like I've already potentially fucked up my physiology on my own and don't want to do any further damage. I should mention I get a bit neurotic over health concerns - i studied medical science for a year at uni before changing careers, and feel like I don't know much, but know enough now to simply worry myself a lot.
I am going to see a doctor about it and have all my relevant hormones tested, but I wanted some advice first. What other hormones should I get tested apart from testosterone and estrogen? Does anyone have any experience with such estrogen related problems? Do you think the cellulite is irreversible, or it might go away if my androgens increase and my skin thickens up?
Any advice appreciated
