Escitalopram withdrawal

My doctor put me on a daily 5 milligram regimen of escitalopram for 3 months, after which he doubled the dose to a 10 mg daily dose for about 4 months. I no longer require the drug and have quit it cold turkey, however the withdrawal symptoms are more severe than I had previously anticipated.

My question is this: for how long does the mental slowness associated with SSRI withdrawal persist and what are the chances that my escitalopram regimen will have permanently altered my mental capacity?

There is an insignificant possibility that you have received permanent brain alterations from escitalopram. Just bear through it, everything passes with time

SSRIs really are no joke, and it saddens me how the average nieve person takes it totally unaware and uneducated of it's side effects. I was on Paxil for 6 months when i was 16, im 28 now and ill say it changed me in a different way i cant explain. i quit cold turkey myself, i was constantly dizzy and my moods were WAY up and down for about 2 weeks...than i felt back to my "normal" self..lol.....give it 2 weeks you should feel healed by then

Maybe a slow taper would have been better. Try that.

very true took me at least 7 days off of 20 mg cold turkey before braian zaps even stopped not much fun def taper yourself off
