equivelant adderall vs dextroamphetamine

i was on 60-90mgs of adderall for years and my doc put me on 20mgs of dextroamphetamine a day immediate release. I had to take 40-50mgs just to take care of my adhd. plus they were the 5mg ir tabs so i will get the 10's this week. so what do you think the equal amount of adderall ir to straight dextro?

Adderall actually contains dextroamphetamine as one of the ingredients. From wikipedia, Adderall contains the fallowing amphetamines in the ratio of:

* 1/4 dextroamphetamine saccharate
* 1/4 dextroamphetamine sulfate
* 1/4 (racemic dextro/levo-)amphetamine aspartate monohydrate
* 1/4 (racemic dextro/levo-)amphetamine sulfate

Adderall is essentially 75% dextroamphetamine. The different salts make it absorb a little slower though, so the dextroamphetamine content will hit you a little less hard than pure IR dextroamphetamine sulfate.

Therefore:
60mg Adderall is equivalent to 45mg dexedrine.
90mg Adderall is equivalent to 67.5mg dexedrine.

You were switched from 90mg of Adderall to 20mg of dexamphetamine?? You feel the need for 40-50mg to take care of your ADD because that's how much you would need if you were taking 60mg a day, if you were taking 90mg you'd need like 60mg...at least. Your doctor is an idiot thinking 20mg of Dexedrine will work if you were on 90mg of Adderall. If that's all your doctor will give you go back on the Adderall. Long ago when I was prescribed 90mg of Adderall I was switched onto 60mg of Dexedrine. Although the usual recommended maximum daily dose is 45mg.
