G.P. Tellement, Die Donnerode (1756, completed 1760), "The Thunder-Ode" a commemoration of the great earthquake at Lisbon in 1755 (which, incidentally, also served as some of the inspiration for Voltaire's Candide.)

...All of Tchaikovsky's best(s) started off with him being pissed off with his parents. :)

^ True,
I guess most of the world's problems start at some point with our parents.
I have no ideals I going to be the exception ..

But epic aamf

Fuck Nutty, I knew you would select some good ones. Epic music, done well, is great. I find a lot of my epic in different black metal subgenres, doom, post-metal and of course post-rock. I have yet to hear much electronic music that I would call epic; some hardstyle and hard trance could be called so, but adjectives like 'massive', 'spacious', and so forth seem more more fitting.

This song is pretty much the definition of epic. Atmospheric black metal stuff. Quite towards the end we have an enormous choir chanting something that gives me the shivers. :)

In terms of epic music I find Hans Zimmer one my favourite specialists.
A sample of few of his famous songs.
