twisted, that was my point =) .. vapors and fumes are a pretty good way to attract them.
in large numbers, actually. most places i wouldn't be surprised if you got a swat team. and bomb squad, hazardous materials disposal and maybe some federal agents of some kind.
they take this kind of thing very serious. a bit too seriously, even.
anyway.. overall, the reaction is not difficult, as in, you could do it easily with a fairly good chance of success if you knew what you were doing. or (currently this is where i draw the line between "easy" and "hard" syntheses) you don't need to do it under nitrogen.
unfortunately for this idea, part of knowing how to do it seems to be knowing *not* to do it. simply because of the whole swat team thing.
some of them are still interesting reactions, although appreciating an interesting reaction is a disease that takes a lot of early-morning labs and late-night studying to get..
