Ephedrine-HCL Toxicity

Ephedrine places incredible stress on the cardiovascular system. I am not one to preach, but we can see that this is none too healthy.
 
well, i have taken ephedrine for 8-9 years now and repo very minor side effects...dry mouth, insomnia but thats it...i dont take huge doses, nor do i take it veryday...also, i dont take it for rec purposes, more for workout purposes...

taking 350 m,gs is just insane and stupid...reversing the damage done???time and more time would be my guess...
 
Is up to 200mg of Ephedrine HCL really neuro-toxic ? Can someone show some studies, I've looked at PubMed and didn't find any side-effects, except with people with predisposed heart problems.
 
There's a big study on ephedrine neurotoxicity (in comparison to amphetamine neurotoxicity) in rats here
 
I use pseudo on & off for nasal congestion. I take about 1/6th what your friend took though.

I just assumed that the average human is like 160 lb (heh...because I weigh 160 lb. hah!) :)

I don't think you can directly compare the doses like that because a rat has a much higher metablism than a human.
 
Your criticism is correct... (although I'm not sure if metabolic speed is the most relevant factor.) For example, 5 mg/kg of d-amp was necessary to induce stereotyped behavior in these rats in this study. That dose, scaled up to human proportions, would be potentially lethal.

My friend is still interested in hearing what people have to say about taking that high of a dose. Also he said he is interested in hearing people's experience with meth and other amphetamine overdoses/.

extremely unlikey 2b anything 2do with neurotoxicity or any othewr toxicity - rather a mild anxiety disorder
