Ephedrine is mostly just peripheral effects - appetite suppression, more energy, nasal decongestion, raised heart rate and bp (not to dangerous levels for most people + sane doses), a little more endurance in the gym, slight raise in metabolism.
Very popular with bodybuilders looking to lose fat (combined with caffeine at around 25mg e + 200mg c 3x per day, stopping a few hours before bed time) but not really recreational (maybe the first few times you take it). But even for fat loss it's far from magic.
So really, depends on what your goals are - trying to have fun? Not worth it. Fat loss? Can help, check some bodybuilding sites for details. Also probably not a good idea to take it if you have any pre-existing heart problems.
