enjoying klonopin?

Hey guys,

I've been scripted clonazepam for 10 years now. Started off 3x a day of .5 mg. That made me too damn tired all of the time so I had my doc cut it to 2x a day. Of those two, I only take 1.5 because they just make me so tired.

My question is, how do people enjoy these recreationally? I've never taken more than one at a time like prescribed. But from taking 1/2 less pill per day than I'm prescribed I have hundreds if not thousands of pills that I've never taken over the years.

If I take two or three will I get a good relaxed feeling or will it just knock me out? Tell me your experience with klonopins and how you use them recreationally?

With benzodiazepines it's not so much how they make you feel, it's how they make you not feel. They aren't particularly euphoric, but if you want to ease your mind of all your worries for a bit then they will do that for you. If you are active while on them then they might not make you that tired, but if you are already tired or relaxing then they will knock you out.

They don't produce pleasureable feelings on their own, but will relax you enough to be more social which is what a lot of people use them for. Taking higher doses is more of a 'I wanna get as fucked up as possible' type of teenager/early twenties intoxication. I knew a lot of people abusing them when I was younger, but now anyone I know that takes it only takes a small dose just to relax them or loosen them up a bit. Getting benzo'd out gets old after a year or so and the withdrawal is horrible which is why most people don't continue abusing it at the same rate they once did.

Ah, so there's not really any recreational value for a long time obedient user? Except maybe popping an extra one to feel a little looser?

There is tons of recreational value in klonopin, I used to be prescribed 2mg a day up until a week ago (Im on vallium now) And if i took 2-3 mg i was just chiiiiiiiiiilll and felt drunk as hell without feeling sick or anything.

People can enjoy them recreationally for various reasons. They typically don't produce euphoria, but taken in large enough doses can cause the abuser to feel intoxicated, light headed, and obviously worry free because it's an anxiolytic. The person may legitimately suffer from an anxiety disorder, and by using benzodiazepines they find that their anxiety diminishes. Since it feels good to be without anxiety, someone may want to experience that feeling all the time.

If you take more than your recommended dose you may indeed just get so tired and fall asleep because of what you mentioned and how they make you feel. The CNS is depressed and brain activity is slowrd down. These physiological changes often times make someone feel tired. It's a normal side effect.

I wouldn't recommend increasing your dosage or taking more to use recreationally and see how it feels. If your dose is working to effectively relieve your anxiety - don't change it without a doctors approval first.

I Like mixing various types of benzodiazepines: for example 30 mg Diazepam + 1 mg Clonazepam + 15 mg Midazolam.

I prefer the hypnotics like Temazepam combined with Cannabis or AM-2201 / JHW-081.

Yes, what you are saying above is correct.

No offense Brandasaur, but I can't see how your post is helpfull. The OP has been on clonazepam for 10 years, is using them as prescribed (even less than prescribed actually) and has received confirmation on his/her querry from some very wise members of BL.
I'm not trying to be a nerd but please think before you type in future as there are hundreds of other people who read BL for guidance.
I'm refering to the first sentence of your post.

You have been on it for 10 yr's so there really is no space for you to enjoy them like when you first had one and your anxiety was so high that it melted when it kicked in. And if you have been taking it the right way for that long just keep doing that because if you take more then your supposed to then you have a chance of it burning out and I know you don't want that!. What are you taking them for. I take .5 twice a day due to anxiety from my SZaffective disorder and OCD.

I think that there may be some confusion between 'recreational value' and 'euphoria'.

Nobody really feels euphoria from benzos like they do from opiates, amphetamines, or cocaine, which I think everyone can agree on. I thought that the OP meant that they were wondering if euphoric effects would be felt at higher doses, to which IME the answer is no.

Now is it recreational? Well almost any drug can be recreational I guess. If I am really stressing over something or in a bad mood then taking a benzo will help a lot with that. In a recreational sense it can loosen people up so that they are more social. They aren't more social because they feel good (like people on opiates, stimulants, etc) but because they don't have any worries.

Benzos do have their place in recreational use, but it's not like other drugs that produce euphoria on their own.

My advice would be to not use them recreationally, citing tolerance issues and higher incidence of negative side effects at higher doses.

Thanks for the replies. I feel like I've been tolerant to my original dose for a while now as I've felt stressed a lot, and my recent hydrocodone recreational use has been amazing at just making me feel good.

I know I'll be out of the hydros though as I had them scripted from the dentist and I'm not comfortable buying pills off of the street.

I wonder if I should talk to my doc about a higher dose of clonazepam or switch to another benzo to get the anxiety relief again. I am on them for anxiety (and it was chosen for it's anticonvulsant properties as well as I had a psuedo-seiziure (presumably from anxiety and stress) when I was younger). Since I've never had anything like that happen again I'm wondering if I can be switched to a less sedative-oriented benzo.

Might just start having a couple beers once in a while..

Actually he asked how they are enjoyed recreationally so I described my recreational experience.

No worries, I appreciate you sharing your experience. 2-3mg didn't knock u the f* out? If I took that, I'm pretty sure I'd nod off within 20 minutes and sleep for 20 hours. That's just based on how my 1.5mg/day makes me feel.

I just took 1mg instead of my usual .5. Slow and steady. So far it does have me a little looser (presumably like it did when I first started taking .5's). The weird thing is it's not making me tired. Could be that or my mind is too busy trying to analyze how I feel. Think I might ask my doc about a higher dose. I think I can get it since I voluntarily downgraded my original dose.

Probably try 1.5mg in a few days.

I'm confused.

Do you actually have around 1000 pills in your house?

Drink a few beers. Pretty much just take (insert literally any substance) with your benzo and it should synergize very well. It's what benzos were born to do. Benzos are more practical than they are fun. There's a reason you can buy a 2mg Kpin for BLANK and a Gram of Heroin for BLANK. (You all know)

You should probably mention that these combinations are dangerous.

drinking a few beers is a lot more safe than taking benzodiazepines to get high

Alcohol is more harmful to the body so I don't know how drinking beer is safer than taking benzos. If you develop a habit to either of them the withdrawals are horrible. Both cause you to blackout it higher doses, but alcohol is more toxic.
