English Premier League football

United 3-1 up after 29minutes... took it 4-1 even though down to 10 men... How fucking useless was Nani... head butting Lucas Neill, then rolling around on the ground clutching his face as if he had been hit. Twat I say!!

Well now things get a little bit clearer at the bottom. Wigan are safe, Sunderland are safe, Bolton are safe, unless they suffer a massive for and against swing in the final game.

Fulham have pushed up out of the relegation zone for the first time in about FOREVER this season with a 2-0 win over Birmingham.

Bottom of the table looks like this at the moment:

Team GP GD Score

16 Bolton 37 -18 36
17 Fulham 37 -23 33
18 Reading 37 -29 33
19 Birmingham 37 -19 32
20 Derby County 37 -65 11

The most interesting game that will affect the relegation decision next week is Derby vs Reading. If Derby can salvage some pride and find some home form and win, then Reading are down, but Reading are playing for survival and will surely come out with all guns blazing... however their guns have been a bit quiet recently.

For Fulham to definitively survive, they have to beat Portsmouth at Portsmouth. This would usually end up in a Pompey victory as they are formidable at home, but Pompey have one eye on the FA cup final and really have nothing to play for in the league anymore. Fulham have really started hitting some form in the past few weeks - 3 wins from 4 games when they had only won 4 other games this season before that. Talk about fighting for survival!!

The other game of note is Birmingham at home against Blackburn. Although Birmingham will fight as hard as they can, Blackburn are just in such good form at the moment that it will be very hard to stop them scoring. Bentley and Santa Cruz will waltz through the shaky Birmingham defense.

I have only one thing to say....

Come on Wigan!!! If you have to lift for 1 game this whole season, may as well be this weekend!!!!!

That is all.......... =D

Picked the relegated teams weeks ago!!

Fulham, for the first time in their Premier League history, won 3 away games in a row and managed to stay up on goal difference!

Now THAT is a bloody top effort!

My dislike for Chelski is shrinking since Avram Grant took over. Did anyone see the humility in which he took defeat in the title race after the Bolton game?

Was good to see IMO. And considering some of the vile at times purely anti-semetic abuse he's put up with this season I hope he stays on and has a degree of success.

Yeah, he seems like a thoroughly decent man.

I still remain doubtful as to whether he'll still be in his position should they fail to win the Champion's League though.

Mourinho was much more fun, though. The rivalry/banter was better. Nothing against Grant though, he's had a good season, fell short at the last hurdle - he doesn't deserve the criticism, IMO.

So, Hull City vs. Bristol City for the final place in the Premier League next season...

Who will win?

Who deserves it more?

I really don't know, as the Championship only vaguely takes my interest, and rarely at that...

And even more importantly, are either of them going to have a chance to even beat Derby's worst ever effort this season...

Chelsea are my team.
I have to say that I had mixed feelings about them not winning the league. I absolutely dispise Avram Grant. Not so much him personally but that he got the job and in no way got it on anything resembling merit.
I remember when he got the job someone on the Chelsea chat page said "People have always said that anyone could win the league with the kind of money Chelsea has at their disposal. Well, I guess we're gonna find out if that's true because Avram Grant is as close to 'anyone' as we're gonna get!"
If he had won the league, we'd be stuck with this clown.

Now I'm equally conflicted about the CL.

i know this isn't the proper thread, but condolensces, btw. :D what a fucking match, the CL final!!

MAN U!!!!!!!!!!

Missed the game, twice, but caught the overtime on replay. I have to laugh at Ronaldo, and have no sense of history for this Terry fellow...but it sucks to be him. Too bad he blew it for his team, but he wasn't alone since the last guy got blocked (on frame, though, which is better than slipping and having 0% chance of it going in). I was happy for the Man U Manager whatshisname....history and all.

Anywho...wish I'd seen more. Can anyone explain what the English commentators where on about with Ronaldo? Something about being 15? I know he started young, but he's not that young right now...I don't know what their point was.

Ronaldo 15? Don't know what you're on about there. Also, you are probably getting ESPN commentators, right? So not the same ones we get in the UK (I used to get ESPN in NZ - it sucked, basically).

Even though I was dancing round the pub and being hugged by strangers and singing victorious chants, I'm not 100% happy about the penalty shootout. It's a rotten way to decide on a winner, especially in a game like this where the two sides had been basically even. (OK, it's worse when Arsenal can win the FA Cup on penalties without ever having a shot on target, but the CL was still pretty bad).

Kanu & Portsmouth are my fav. teams, Benjani, is great too!I'm one of the few Americans that have been to "the theatre of dreams".....although Man Utd. is not even one of my fav teams, I had to take the opportunity to visite ....too bad a game wasn't being played, I still felt the energy the grounds projected..phenomenal!
