end the war on drugs PETITION

Did you even read the post? Pretty sure I just said that I have no delusions that the UN is going to do anything major. I simply made a claim about a petition's ability to translate into policy action, whether or not that policy action is ineffective, negative or positive is entirely another matter on which I'm basically agreeing with you.

Oh yeah, did the arpeggios tell you that? chill out you br0, you can't claim a petition has no social bearing and then also claim that the UN cares enough about it to create a task force to get the IPs of what are most likely going to be fake names anyway, not to mention if you understood how IPs worked you'd know that IPs =/= people. You sound like an idiot.

The PATRIOT Act contained a number of tools that expanded the power of federal law enforcement officials. One of these, the “sneak and peak” warrant, allows investigators to break into the home or business of the warrant’s target and delay notification of the intrusion until 30 days after the warrant’s expiration. This capability was sold to the American people as a necessary tool to fight terrorism.

In Fiscal Year 2008, federal courts issued 763 “sneak and peak” warrants. Only three (that's .39%) were for terrorism cases. Sixty-five percent were drug cases

The UN soldiers are made up of mostly US citizens.

IPs can and are used to track people.

Now you sound like an idiot.

IP's *can* be used to effectively track a 'user' to a physical address. that said, nobody* really gives a flying fuck about this petition (not even the un).
*nobody aside from the people who've signed it. they, alone, do care.

Probably about IPs because I'm not a computer guy, although I think anyone seriously sugggesting that the UN would use this drug task force to track the IPs of petition signers sounds equally retarded, if not more so. If you think that's viable, your view of the world is very, very distorted, something a little more serious than being mistaken about a computer factoid.

Though I agree with the unfortunate reality that none of us will ever live to see drug legalization/decriminalization in this country, I signed proudly and with no fear of retribution. I strongly urge those out there who are on the fence to sign and share the petition over facebook/twitter, its the right thing to do people. Prohibiting educated people who know the possible consequences of their choices from posessing/using drugs of their choice is just plain WRONG. Look around you and honestly tell me things wouldn't be better without drug prohibition. I dare you

That's your 12th post in this thread and most undoubtedly won't be your last. Do you always put this much effort into things you don't give a shit about or do you just like conflict? Either way, you're wasting good space that could go towards posts that actually have substance. Personally, I think you're just trying to build up your thread count. It's hard to deliver quality when you care about is quantity, isn't it?

Besides, we all get that you're a coward who only cares about himself. That's about the only point you've proven in this thread. Oh and another thing, paranoid android. You are on a site that is primarily devoted to drug use and harm prevention. To worry about a petition while blindly posting away on this site? There's some kind of retarded irony in there that I can't quite put my finger on. What makes it even worse and you more hypocritical is the fact that you made this thread the same day as this one was made. Any argument you have to make from here on out is 100% invalid.

guess we've gotta go full retard here :/

I'm not trying to make any arguments at this point, my views on everything involved have been made clear. is there ANYthing that i can clarify? no? good.
/but, just in case:
- i don't see ANY merit, whatsoever, in these stupid petitions. Do you honestly believe signatures on these anonymous, online petitions have ANY relevance, whatsoever, to anything that effects drugs? think about your answer before you give me shit for not partaking :|
- i used to fill these out like 5 years ago, at least. that was when i was 1st finding sites like bluelight. back then - when i was quite a layman in the world of anything-drugs, i thought they may've had relevance. i've since learned otherwise.
- in this thread, i have spoken on the subject of the authorities taking seemingly-benign sources of data, compiling it, and using it to form solid conclusions. this is an area that intersets me, and is obviously not close to limited to drugs at all. somehow my posts on the subject have given you the idea that i must be completely afraid of such things happening, to the point that it has stopped me from signing this petition. if that's what you'll believe, more power to you- i'm not going to dicksize online about this topic. suffice to say, i've probably filled in more than the average bluelighter - and, now, i'm wholly aware that every single time i did so was a waste of my time.
- yes, i posted a thread re drug legality on this site- WTF does that have to do with anything? i think it's completely obvious i'm comfortable enough in my anonymity here to post what i post. if you spent more time you would've likely found far more 'damning' threads. the reason this is completely irrelevant? i choose to come to bluelight, and use a pseudonym. i do not choose to go to any "sign herrr if u want drugs legal!!" petitions, and if I did, i wouldn't sign anything besides my name (principal thing- i imagine many/most who've signed avaaz's don't hold such virtues :| ). so yeah, i'll talk about legality all day on bluelight under a pseudonym, and won't spend a millisecond of my time on the petition's site, let alone sign it with my real name - wtf was that supposed to prove/mean again?

anyways ive been about as complete here as possible, i think. if you think that not signing a petition = afraid/coward/selfish, more power to you (for fun, why don't you look further back at the threads i've posted? maybe you'll see something that's happened to someone close to me, something that'd really have me off of using my real name. maybe.). if you think that finding these petitions to be futile should negate one from finding the idea worthwhile enough to open/post in a thread on the subject, well, more power to you.
/anything i missed?

Lotsa animosity here.
It seems to me that some are scared to sign the petition, and others aren't.
However, we are all working in the same direction, toward the legalization of (some/all) drugs, and the cultural - and, more important, legal/governmental - acceptance of drug use as a basic fact of human life. Let's try to remain civil with our teammates, lest infighting ruin the whole enterprise.
