Embarrassed about my sister wearing revealing outfits?

Yeah fair enough. To be honest I have no idea why I'd have a problem with it myself - which is why I wouldn't get involved or try to do anything about it -, I just...do. Ha. Not making a very good case for myself here but well.
But as I said, the 'problem' really isn't on my brother's side, it would be on my friend's. But I think the thing is also that my brother is 15 so at this point if one of my friends were to date or sleep with him it would bother me especially beacuse of the age difference and I would be afraid that my brother would be taken advantage of. So maybe that's kind of clouding my judgement.

i love and respect my sister enough to celebrate the fact that she gets to choose who she wants to be with. if it was a friend of mine, the only thing that would matter would be that she was happy. i can't imagine why that would bug me so i have trouble understanding why it world bug somebody else.

i understand different people react differently but i just can't relate to that feeling and don't understand what's behind it.

i guess this kind of reaction is a mild version of the extreme reactions found in honour killings. either way you can tell her but she might not change. learn to accept it and maybe in time she will wear more clothes as peoples dressing style changes over the years

Basically, this. A lot of people keep their family life and social life separate, for a variety of reasons, and a friend dating a relative (especially a sibling) would be a major threat to/violation of their compartmentalized lives.

Agreed, I'm very happy to see how many guys have been chiming in about double-standards and stuff recently.

I think OP is worried his sister is inadvertently sending out the wrong message to men, and he may have a point. Yes, the guys are the ones who are wrong for drawing wrong conclusions from something as shallow as clothing, but the fact is they do. We all do whether we want to admit it or not, its a subconcious primitive thing.
