I know plenty about opiates, but have not done much research on benzodiazepines. Anyway, Ive been prescribed various benzos for 6 years and am now currently supposed to betaking 1mg of xanax twice a day (down from the 2mg twice a day that I have been prescribed for the last two years) Anyway, So I am going to run out early. However, I am also prescribed 30mg Temazepam for insomnia. I do know that different benzos have different effects when it comes to some being more fast acting (xanax) some longer acting (Valium) as well as a full spectrum of effect ranging from specific benzos used for anxiety, while others (temazepam) are prescribed for insomnia because they have stronger Hypnotic effects than antianxiety. My question is, when I run out of the xanax, can I use the Temazepam to prevent withdrawal symptoms until my next refill? I am guessing yes because they are both benzodiazepines, however, I ask just to be sure because of (as mentioned above) the wide spectrum of effects different benzos are specifically designed to do.
