Emancipation

I have to get myself out of being under the thumb of my father who is a nominee for my finances.

He is doing what he thinks is in my best interests and putting all my money I earn towards my motrgage and while that is great it leaves me with nothing.

I have to go through him to withdraw anything and I need a computer. He says no to just buying one and ai have to put in more which I cant do.

Its my money and I no longer need him to control my life.

But hes an old man and dont want to hurt him. I feel stifled. And while I realise I dont have his enert sense of reason I feel that I should be able to not go broke without him.

I need a computer for work and fun. I dont see why I should ask him for anything as it is my money I have earned.

Emancipation is a big deal... do you feel in your heart you should?
If your father is being an enabler... you have to come to terms with that. And ask yourself when it should end. Will you be okay if it does end? Only you know. Does he know you'll be okay?

This is tough stuff.

It's much nicer to have a mortgage and be on your way to owning some lasting bit of property than to have some some fleeting joy of fun. There is a reason for why he is in charge of your finances (I'm assuming, as it usually doesn't get to this point for no reason). While, it can certainly be difficult, and frustrating, to have to ask for your money to spend on possibly necessary items. It is better than the other options, you know, living in a gutter with no money.

Tbh yeah I do but I need a lap top as I just do as my old one died ages ago and I have tens of thousands saved up. Id rather use that to get a basic lap top than get one with a loan and dont think i should get a loan from a loan shark.

Yeah hes in charge originally as I asked him to 7 years ago. But hes a real control freak now man.

Yes if you have that much saved up I don't see the problem. Maybe try approaching the situation with a logical breakdown for your father to follow. Is he worried that you'll spend the money in some other way? If so, let him come with you to purchase it? Order it online with him?

I don't loan money to friends, only ppl I would rather pay to never see again or turn into a human pin cushion get that honor. Plus, my interest rates are too high and I'd hate to have blogs mod chase you down and feed you to her cats.
