Elon Musk officially buys Twitter, DONE DEAL !

It was just an observation. The quality of supposedly professional writing has gone down, it's something I noticed. It's just lazy on the part of the companies releasing the content. One proofreader could have caught the stuff I pointed out. I'm not one to be a grammar nazi against people or look down on them for not being able to spell or use punctuation, but you'd think someone making money to write articles could be bothered to do a good job.

Wow, yeah what an ugly vehicle.

Also has anyone else noticed the absolute plague of just horribly written "articles" like this out there? Seems like nearly every article I read these days has glaring mistakes everywhere, and horrible grammar.

"You see, while most of us believed that the quirky ‘triangle’ shape of the Cybertruck was all down to the design team at Tesla trying to go wild with their thinking. It turns out nothing could be further from the truth because unknown to most of us. " (guess they forgot to finish that thought... I question whether it was truly a "thought" though)

" it’s likely to be classified as a Class 2B medium-duty vehicle as such, is not legally required to have airbags fitted. "

"The benefits of using stainless steel in this way not only help to make the Cybertruck heavier it also makes it much tougher on the outside and rust-resistant"

"Whereas in mainland Europe, where manufacturers are required to pass more tests, do more paperwork, and different governments are involved in the safety approval process of vehicles. (Which is why missing side mirrors are proving challenging)" (smh)

And there was more, I just got bored with making fun of the article. And this s far from the worst "writing" I have seen in articles like this recently.
Yeah, I worked part-time as a proofreader for a while, since I could do that from home. And my English (when I really try) is impeccable. Bad grammar really bugs me; I’ve often said I would love to go through the entire internet with a big red pen. And give loads of people failing grades 😜

I mean, it’s one thing when it’s just informal chat on message boards like these. But when you see glaring errors in publications, by people who do this professionally, it bothers me so much more. Even if the columnists themselves can’t be arsed to edit their own writing, the publication really should hire a proofreader. Or, if they did, the proofreaders these days must really suck. And I say that out if professional pride…

indeed.

i love language: morphology; grammar; etc.

so sue me :)

Omg me too! The English language is continually butchered by people for whom it is supposed their first (and only) language. It’s a dismal state of affairs :(

In another timeline perhaps I was an English professor :) I still love classic literature; they really knew how to write, in the olden days! The best way to impress me is to have superior English, both grammar and vocabulary. Not many do, these days

Elon mumbling and stumbling in the 420 trial, actually crazy how much difficulty he has forming sentences.
He's getting fucked, naturally. I wonder what the consequences will be, probably relatively minor.

As a son of two teachers I've always been careful about how I write.

Now, I LOVE slang, dialects, etc...and as a Hippiebilly I ain't a-skeered of talkin' however the fuck I wanna. Iffin ya don't like it ya can just GIT. It be what it be, and that's far-fuckin'-out, man. Ya feel me? A'ight then.

BUT if one is writing something that should be taken seriously then one should use correct grammar. After all, most grammar rules are based in logic. When attempting to make an intelligent statement one should sound logical.

Then again, let's not take ourselves TOO seriously. I love the quote attributed to Winston Churchill (probably incorrectly) wherein he responds to a criticism of his using a preposition at the end of a sentence (a violation of a rule which does not exist):

"This is the type of arrant pedantry up with which I will not put."

My favorite is when a freshman at Harvard walked up to an upperclassman and asked, "Do you know where the gym's at?"

At which time the upperclassman said, "You shouldn't end a sentence with a preposition."

So the freshman snapped back, "Sorry. Do you know where the gym's at, asshole?"

tl;dr trump got bent out of shape over a tweet, by chrissy teigen, insulting him. the trump white house contacted twitter and requested that the tweet be removed.

lolirony...

Just seen this. "Weak ass pussy" or something similar now sits in the congressional record as a description of Pres, Trump which is funny.

The whole thing with the Exec. trying to demand tweets get deleted along with them getting the platform to change their t's and c's to accommodate the Presidents hate speech... I know I am not from the US but that 1st Amendment Constitutional guarantee that the Right are so deprived off all of time.. what am I missing here

nothing :)

the repubs were planning to show how evil the democrats are for demanding that twitter censor content and were, one assumes, not expecting to have to hear about how the trump white house did exactly that :)

also revealed was the fact that twitter changed their own policy after then-president trump violated it in order to potentially accommodate a racist tweet from trump.

Elon at it again =D God he's so dumb, it's unreal. Time after time. Really needs to get someone to keep him in check online, could be anyone really, the lawyers are always too late.

Twitter is doing bad, Ad revenue is way down (like at least 40%), Twitter Blue is nowhere of course, he's got yearly interest payments of 1.3B, he's gonna get all these severance lawsuits and there are tons of outstanding payments that he's just refusing to pay. He's fired like 60% so wages are way down, but with ad revenue nowhere, increasing amounts of problems at Twitter (bugs, outages) and these massive interest payments + he paid 40B so you want some return...
Brand damage has been enormous as well.

It's vindication really, for years I've been telling people the guy is a moron (watch any interview) and he's been hammering down that point on the regular.

It's been a bit boring after the first couple months of almost daily idiocy but still entertaining once in a while. I'm still strapped in and looking forward to what is to come :)
