Electronics die when I touch them. Do I got the "bad touch"? Is that even possible?

I know this shit sound crazy but I really gotta ask, cuz it just happens too much for me to not wonder. Before you read this shit, Im bein 100 with you--I aint lying, omittin nothing, this is the 100% straight up truth. When I say "I didnt do nothin", its the truth. It dont mean "All i did was spill a cup of water on it and then it died, but that had nothing to do with it i swear!" You feel me? I literally can just TOUCH a phone, and it dies before i even push a mufuckin button, so dont be assuming that its some other shit Im doin to break it. Anyways...

It seems like i got the bad touch for electronics. I can pick up a phone, not even DO nothing to it--just hold it in my hand after somebody passes it to me, and it will die. Like permanent-dead, cant be charged, broken, gotta buy a new phone type dead.

The shit has happened so many times to me over the years. Once I was in my mans car (which he had for years, I knew how to work the CD player). There was no CD in it, so I took out a cd ( a clean, normal CD that we always played), put it in the thing, and the shit broke and never played again.

I had a sick camera back when I was a teen ager....before my pawn everythin valuable I own stage....It was one of those bangin cameras that had like 10x optical zoom back when the highest available on the top of the line cameras was like 5x optical zoom. Anyways, one day it was workin just fine, the battery replace screen light went on, so I took out the batteries and put in new batteries. It never turned on again, and nobody could fix it or explain why.

I got a nice new phone (I had wrote a thread on here about it actually when it died) and took crazy good care of it cuz I never had a nice phone like that before. It was a touch screen, i kept it wrapped up in a silk head scarf or inside a padded zipped GPS case. Took mad good care of that shit. One day, it just...Didnt turn on. It just died and wouldnt turn on again, wouldnt charge, that was it, and it never worked again.

A few weeks ago I asked to use my mothers phone cuz mine was lost, and she handed it to me. I didnt even get a chance to use it or push a single button or nothing....But within a couple seconds of bein in my hand, the phone shut down, died, and wouldnt charge, or nothing, its compeltely dead now and wont work no more.

Thats just a few of the examples of the shit thats happened over the years. They aint the only ones , but I aint tryna make this thread longer. Yall get the idea.

And dont get it twisted--I aint one of those people that will do some mad stupid shit and then not even realize they did somethin wrong, and then be like Durr, i didnt even do nothin, i how did i broke it?

Mad people I know been like yo, K, you need to stay the fuck away from electronics becuz you just destroy em the minute you touch em.

so, I gotta know. Is this just a coindidence or is this shit truly possible that somebody could have like a bad static electricity charge to them or some shit that just fucks shit up when they touch it?

Word bond, I can break a phone by just touching it, so do I just got bad luck and shit these days is made crappy, or is it actually possible that I could just have a "bad touch" when it comes to electronics?

Try to have someone use a Volt meter and touch you with it and see if it gets any reading.... all i know watches die on me all the time, for some reason i drain the batteries even if they are new.... i gave up on wearing watches since it happened so much

It's the spirit of F Scott Fitzgerald haunting you from beyond grave, yo. Mad props son. Holla atcha boy. One.

But seriously, I've heard of this same thing happening to a few people actually so the good thing is you're certainly not alone. I don't have an explanation for it, but there's prbly some info out there on the internet of others who have lived with this phenomenon.

You are definitely not alone, Khadijah. And no, you are not insane.

I started a thread on another board about my tendency to burn out lightbulbs and streetlamps. I will send it your way later/tomorrow (don't wish to post it publicly here). In the meantime, do you notice it gets more intense either at certain times of the day or when you are in a particularly up or down mood?

The best explanation I have received thus far (which isn't much of one, but it's all I've got) is that yes, some people do have a different type of electrical charge than others, and yes, it's static in nature. You use dryer sheets, right? ;)

Using devices primarily made of metal seems to have helped a lot of people in your situation. Do you have an old Motorola Razr around, or can you get one? In my experience (not primarily affecting electronics, mostly lightbulbs) it's a pretty sturdy little device that can stand up to this type of energy. I am on my 3rd Blackberry and 4th charger. I keep the new one in a little case held shut by a magnet. I carry insurance on my phone and suggest you do too!

yeah that can totally happen.

just the other day i have a remote for a ceiling fan in my bedroom that was driving me crazy because it wasnt working. replaced the batteries twice, etc. nothing. than my g/f picked it up asking what it was and boom i see the remote glowing the faint blue glow it glows. I grab the remote and sure enough it worked perfectly again. so strange.

do streetlights ever burn out when you pass them kadijah

My hands are constantly causing me to get the shit shocked out of me. Especially during the colder seasons. Last year, I inadvertently took out not one, but two different ATMs within a week. I stuck my card in, heard a loud pop and my arm felt like it had grab a live wire for a split second. Then the screen went completely blank. I waited both times for about five minutes for them to come back on and they never did. It gets very tiresome at times and keeps me on constant alert as to what's going to shock me or what I'm going to take out of commission next.

tl;dr as i'm clucking.

But i'll go off the title and first few lines.

I have a friend who is the same, she touched a friends iphone/broke, touched console/broke, touched mp3/broke. It's happened so many times, she must have this 'bad touch' too.

This fully adjustable Anti-Static Wrist Band provides reliable static control and 360-degree protection. It dissipates static during electronic repair and maintenance. PRODUCT FEATURES: Adjustable grounding wristband; Dissipates static during electronic repair and maintenance.
Besides the wrist strap, you might want to keep your cell phone away from your other electronics. It emits a strong enough signal to fry some things if it's turned ON and stored up against them.
Frank: You could wreak some financial havoc with your ability to disable atms.

Maybe the machines are fighting back?

I echo Amoroark. Strange.

you should do some research on "sliders" and "electric people phenomenon". i've never witnessed it but i don't doubt that it's entirely possible.

we tell my brother he has shit hands because everything he touches goes to shit... you cant give him anything because he loses it breaks it or just fucks it up , he even dropped a baby once ( yeah i know scary we were little)you cant give this kid anything ...
but yes some ppl just have that bad touch.

do streetlights ever burn out when you pass them kadijah

Every time I pass by street lights at least one of em will go out or flicker on and off. Iunno if that really got anything to do with it tho, but now that you ask it made me think of that. When I was a kid it seemed like i would just see it once in a while but nowadays anytime i go out and pass by em, its like clockwork, I can just about count on at least one of em burnin out.

I never even thought of this shit in the way that some of yall are puttin it, shits pretty interesting. Ima have to look up that electric people thing.

^ That happens a lot to me too but I'm pretty sure it's shotty electricity in my neighborhood and/or the city's purposeful planning to save electricity. I've never had any other 'bad touch' things happen so I'm not sure if that example is one which holds water (not that the others don't).

one friend has had exactly the same problem mainly with computers (buys computer that breaks after just a few months; buys laptop instead, the hard disk is dead after days, gets replaced, then the screen breaks a short while after), but it has become better lately.

on the other hand my mother has a talent for spilling liquids on phones or dropping them in the toilet without killing the devices...

Luckily it doesn't go as far as Khadijah's problem, but I always have some light to heavy electrical discharge everytime I touch something big like when I have to pass through the metro barrier, etc. A lot of people I know don't have this problem, it's always for me...

Well, I've got a fairly decent knowledge of computers, yet somehow thing's go wrong. No explanation - I could be just running a simple virus scan and suddenly it just crashes. Don't worry mate - I know EXACTLY how you feel!

people in my community hate me SO much for having three years clean from Crack Cokaine that they EFFECT THE STREET LAMPS IN VERY DARK AREAS WHILE RIDE THROUGH THEM ON MY BIKE...................EVERYONE KNOWS THAT I HAVE TROUBLE EFFECTING ELECTRONICS......................... Fucking cocksuckers, I guess they think its OK because I have a couple of blinker lights on my person whileI ride.
In fucking Jr college, My father signed me up for electronic engineering, and the first two weeks I got confused about where I was susposed to go and went to a higher level class and my schooling got all fucked up. The fucking Electronic Dept. Head Professor (IDK his title or whaterver but it was at Onondaga Community college in syracuse new york in about the late 90's) was the teacher of both classes, and even questioned who I was and why i was in the higher class. Eventually he sent me to the right class.
A girl I allowed to stay at my house while homeless did an "electronic incident" on my cell phone a while ago. We parted ways, and then I introduced her to my friends because I thought they had things in common. Well anyways, one of those assholes or both of them drained the battery almost until it was dead and useless one day. They both know how much I get abused because I cannot efectelecronics with my mind. I cant even send someone a somatic charge eventhough I make people physically sick.

I remember a piece of text from instructions from my Churches study books and they read "mock up mental energy". I never got to study much else because I dont know how to "do it"
