Anyone at Electric Zoo this year? Was the quality of MDMA bad? Obviously it's likely this wasn't pure MDMA... probably some shoddy pills, and the media of course doesn't differentiate... story below:

----

The final day of the Electric Zoo music festival has been cancelled after two deaths and other illnesses—apparently from MDMA (molly). The Mayor's office issued a statement, "The City recommended cancellation and the event promoters have agreed."

The statement explained, "During the first two days of the Electric Zoo music festival, two concert-goers have died and at least four others became critically ill and have been placed in intensive care at area hospitals. Definitive causes of death have not yet been determined, however, both appear to have involved the drug MDMA (ecstasy, or molly). The Electric Zoo organizers have worked with City officials to reduce health risks at this event, but in view of these occurrences, the safest course is to cancel the remaining day of the event."

Electric Zoo hasn't updated its Twitter or Facebook yet. Last year, at the "Haunted Coliseum" electronic dance music concert at the Nassau Coliseum, dozens were sick from ecstasy/molly and/or alcohol.

"Last night in Boston, EDM DJ/producer Zedd kicked off his North American "Moment Of Clarity tour at the House of Blues which ended in tragedy as one audience member died of an apparent overdose while two others were hospitalized for similar conditions.

According to the Boston Globe, the overdoses occurred around 1 a.m. in the morning. A female attendee was pronounced dead en route to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Another female and male were transported there as well, and were listed in serious condition earlier today.

Jay Anderson, a spokesman for the House of Blues, released a statement today regarding incident. "Last evening, there were guests at our venue in need of medical treatment during the performance. They were assisted by Boston EMS as well as on-site emergency medical personnel and then transported to local medical facilities," he says. "One individual has unfortunately passed away and our thoughts go out to their family and friends for their loss. This matter is under investigation and we are continuing to work with local officials."

Zedd was scheduled for another show in Boston tonight, but that show has since been cancelled. The House of Blues will also shut down for an unknown period of time as a full investigation takes place. You can read Zedd's tweets on the incident below."

Considering NY has little to 0% MDMA...I'm going to say that the deaths were not "mdma-related"

Why do people have to be so stupid when it comes to drugs?

First of all these idiots probably just take whats sold to them and don't even bother testing it. On top of that, they have to take stupidly high doses of anything and everything. WHY?!

FFS I seriously don't understand people.

This is really sad. When is the Government going to learn that prohibition and misinformation causes more damage than it solves :(

I bet these two unfortunate ravers' toxicology reports show lots of drugs in there system that they didn't even mean to take.

Also this just appearing in the news today:

http://boston.cbslocal.com/2013/09/...rdoses-reported-at-bank-of-american-pavilion/

BOSTON (CBS) — Police say they were called to the Bank of America Pavilion Saturday night for three possible overdoses.

Sound Tribe Sector 9 was playing a show at the venue when State Police found three men in their 20′s, suffering from what appeared to be the effects of a drug overdose.

The three were taken to local hospitals. Their conditions are not known.

Might be related. Seems unusual to have this many overdoses so close together in the same region from mostly the same scene.

My heart goes out to the families :(

You don't often hear of MD-related deaths, they're so incredibly rare in my reigon thank goodness, but 100,000 people at an event my goodness that is just absolutely crazy. If they were misled by a dodgy dealer I hope that person gets what comes to them.

My thoughts exactly... shitty of the paper to print they're likely MDMA related when I doubt there was even MDMA in their system.. of course I'm just speculating, but I haven't seen any articles that cite an autopsy yet....

Yeah something is going on. Could be anything from misdosed RCs to PMA. Be careful out there. Test kits are cheap and easy to use there is no excuse if you plan on getting your shit at the show.

TBH I doubt it was MD, I reckon it was another batch of dodgy RCs and a dealer betrayed them to get a quick buck.

You're right though 98% of cases the media won't re-report to say "oh no here is what the substance really was"... but when has the media ever been worried about being correct XD

Where's humanity gone in all seriousness :/

VERY unlikely that it was MDMA alone.. but really, when you have 100,000 people on any kind of drug, bad things are going to happen. I'm going to move this though, it's not really about MDMA
