Ehrlich's Reagent and Ink on Blotters

I'll be receiving Ehrlich's reagent in the mail soon, but I'm wondering if the ink on the blotters would interfere with the results using the reagent.

It's possible but very unlikely. Most dyes are non-indole-based.

If you want to control for dissolving ink, first extract your blotter with the smallest possible volume of water or alcohol (by just soaking it for a little while). Then again there would have to be a hell of a lot of purple dye in that blotter.
Fortunately Ehrlich wouldn't react semi-randomly like the sulfuric acid in Marquis.
