Effexor questions

It made me exhausted for the first week at 75mg, but not so much after that. Haven't noticed any major side effects in my third month now on 150mg per day and it helps greatly with my severe social anxiety but that's about it. I don't think it's typically prescribed for just depression (I've had horrible experiences with other similar drugs like Zoloft, Wellbutrin, Paxil especially, seroquel, etc, but Effexor is the first to actually help me in some way it seems. Cut down on my klonopin and adderall doses voluntarily because I found I didn't need them as much about six weeks in with Effexor)

It blows my mind that you would take less of 2 awesome drugs because of a (usually) grotesque one. Does it give you energy now and help you focus? If it really works for you then great but remember it causes physical dependency as well. During the brief period I was on Effexor my libido was annihilated with hours of taking it and did not come back until about 48 hours after stopping. Does it have this side effect for you? If not then you are probably good to go.

It doesn't have any impact on libido for me, and it has greatly reduced my anxiety (which I take klonopin for -- mostly social anxiety which it works much better for) and that in turn has helped my focus much more (which is what I take adderall for -- I don't take it for energy not am I one of those people that does adderall and suddenly wants to clean the whole house etc).

Trust me when I say, I would have never thought it would make me want to take less of those other drugs (I would never mention it to the dr because I don't know when or if I'll stop seeing the "good" effects, so wouldn't want to reduce or give up those prescriptions). Effexor is much more addicting than most drugs -- my body is probably incredibly dependent on it already where missing a single day would result in me being way off -- but it has helped me grow a bit of a "stash" of klonopin or adderall from when I could truly benefit from a bit more of either (which occasionally is the case). A lot of people really don't like Effexor and I fully expected to be one of those people, but I gave it a shot to humor my psychiatrist and I have to say it definitely has been an improvement for me.

im ANTI SSRI, SNRI, etc...I always had horrible side effects. I tried Effexor, the prison shrink asked if I liked pot, I said yes just to go along with her explanation even tho I hate weed, she said GOOD, because Effexor will make u feel goofy like weed. she was right, for bout 30mins I felt like I smoked a bowl..after that I was irritable as hell. I felt like I took a bunch of adderrall without the euphoria and all the negative side effects, I got the shrunken balls and chills that speed would give me on it. I stopped taking it immediately.
