Opioids effexor and oxycodone

I switched from efexor to zoloft 4moths ago but before that i had been on effexor for 8 years.

I never noticed any complications or adverse reactions from the oxy + venlafaxine combination. I usually inject(IV) ~60mg oxy to catch a nod as i did while on effexor too.

You got nothing to worry about. This is a safe combo.

Cool. I find effexor doesn't mix well with marijuana and wondered if it pertained to other CNS acting drugs as well.

^Well I never noticed anything wrong with getting high on weed while on effexor.

Have you just started taking effexor? I was on 225mg/day Effexor XR. Everytime your dose gets upped you end feeling a bit weird for about a week. If you're still adjusting to your dose marijuana might actually cause possible discomfort but once you get over it smoking weed doesn't really differ from what it is without the venlafaaxine.

Strong opiates like oxy are a different thing though. You can easily take them while adjusting to your medicine because oxycodone will override the possible weirdness caused by your body getting to beeing used to this med. Oxy will actually ease up the nasty adrenergic stimulation that effexor is known to cause when starting it.

Thanks for the good info, man. In fact I just started taking effexor again after a break from ALL AD's for ~6 months. I'm on a low dose- 75mg's per day but I'll be damned if I haven't slept a wink this week.....

Hopefully the oxy will help me crash out tonight.....

Can I ask why you stopped taking effexor?

^Sure mate.

The reason for my switch to zoloft was just after being 8 years on effexor it kind of stopped working, i became immune to it. I was depressed as hell but still got the side-effects from being on a high dose. I mean sweating hugely on summer, the night sweats etc.

I'm now on 400mg Zoloft/day, which also is the highest dose a doctor can prescribe in my country. Somehow my body seems to be much more tolerant to zoloft than it was to effexor. I'm not sweating almost constantly anymore and i'm feeling again a lot better about myself.

Effexor is a stronger AD than Zoloft but 8 years is also a long time to be on the sáme medicine.

I'm almost 100% sure that the oxy will help you in crashing if you're finding it hard to sleep atm.

Zoloft is an excellent AD- I take it every now and again. I cycle through effexor, zoloft and paxil with some breaks thrown in here and there so I at least get some therapeutic effect. All AD's stop working for me sooner or later. You might try cycling yourself if you find your zoloft side-effects are becoming bothersome.

Have you tried Cymbalta?

No, i have no experience of Cymbalta. Is it an SNRI like effexor?

What's your opinion about it? does it work well? I've also tried Cipramil (Celexa in U.S) which made me feel surreal. I felt like i was living inside a bubble not in touch with reality. It was kind of like if i was watching a movie about someone else's life. Those were maybe the 2 most bizarre years of my life.

I'm happy with my zoloft at moment. I also take 72mg Concerta/day + 20mg Ritalin/day .

Indeed it is an SNRI. I tried it for a little while but had to go off it because of stomach issues it caused me. My psych doctor really thought it was good and would have stayed on it if not for the said issues.

I wasn't all that crazy about celexa myself- nor it's cousin lexapro

I have been on cymbalta for quite a while. I tried effexor to save money and it was ineffective with my depression. Cymbalta at high doses (neuropathic pain type 120mg/day) will also cause a lot of sweating. ADs work differently for different people though: very hard to generalize too much.

I also take opiates for chronic pain and have no issues with the combo nor were any of my doctors concerned with it.

Just a word of caution.

Sometimes Anti-Depressants and Opiates combined can cause seizures in certain individuals.

Also certain Anti-Depressants and synthetic Opiates like Tramadol can cause Serotonin Syndrome. You DO NOT want SS.

Your mind will be flooded with Dopamine, Serotonin, Nor-Epinephrine - pleasure chemicals in the brain from taking a pleasure inducing drug like OXYCODONE - then the AD will act as a serotonin and dopamine re-uptake inhibitor.

Your brain goes nuts and you start having myoclonic uncontrolled muscle movements that then turn into a grand mal seizure in which you will probably swallow your tongue and die.

You need to understand people reporting restless leg syndrome on opiates? You know like nodding and having your muscles jerk, and twitch? That is because opiates, especially the synthetics derived from thebaine LOWER the seizure threshold quite a bit, putting anti-depressants into that mix can be bad news,

It depends on the person really, some will be fine, some will have problems.

There are a FEW combinations EVERYONE should probably avoid as it would be high risk no matter your personal history -

Like eating TRAMADOL and WELLBUTRIN by the handful. Also be very careful with MAOIs.

I am on 30mg/Cymbalta a day and was on Percocet/10/325 for a while. I never experienced any noticeable side effects.

Best advice I can give is always take as prescribed and report any ill effects to your doctor so he/she can adjust the dosage as appropriate.

This thread is about combining venlafaxine with oxycodone. This combo is not known for being dangerous or toxic.

When MDMA (a potent serotonin releaser) is taken while on effexor the effects are "dulled" to the point of almost not noticing them, and that's all there is to it.Oxy isn't serotonergic.

Effexor with Ultram/tramadol is just asking for trouble. There's a reason to it and it's that they both are SNRIs but that's not the issue here.

I am scripted effexor along with 150mgs of Oxy a day. It's pretty safe, unless my doctors don't have any idea what they are doing.

Damn, did you screw your back up somehow or somehting?....thats alot of OC a day.

No I have a rare disease, I have severe pain I live with every single day. I'm young too I'm only 20 so it sucks pretty bad.

Anyone ever had any problems mixing these?

my grandmother takes tramadol with lexapro with no problems and if there were gonna be problems it would be with those two because of there sri effects..
i was on celexa when i was 12-13 and used to pop percs all the time with no ill effects.. i think you'll be fine.

You mind me asking what disease?.....im just curious.

I got a friend who has scoliosis hardcore yet he refuses to take ANY medication for it cause he comes from a family of "hardass men"......his dad wont allow his son to be a "pussy" if you know what I mean...

,.....it worked though...he plays football and fucks people up harder than ANYONE ive ever seen in his weight range...(165)

...allthough hes probably gonna do some serious damage before he reaches 28. Probably will be in a wheelchair by then.....but for now,I wont even look at him in the eye...he could fuck me up.(he also has a rage problem....it stems from his fathers physical abuse i assume)

isnt that extremely painful?....well nvm i guess it is since you get 150 mg oxy
