Benzos Effects of Valium- can it act as an opiate?

The effects seem to be very similar to opiates, for example; relaxation, dreamy state, sedation.. although its not a painkiller, it seems to be similar to opiates such as codeine. So what is the difference? I know its a benzo, but why is it so similar to the effects of opiates? is it possible to get an intense "opiate like high" from a high dose of valium?

I take 2mg x 3 a day for my HPPD now.
 
No. Valium (diazepam) and all other benzodiazepines have a different method of action than opiates. The similarities in effect that you are probably feeling is the anxiety relief that the Valium is providing (opiates provide excellent anxiety relief as well - which is one reason why they're so addictive - same goes for the benzodiazepines).

Taking a high dose of Valium isn't going to make it feel like an opiate...it will probably just cause you to black out...

Yeah, benzos and opiates are worlds different. Some of their effects are similar, but they are VERY different drugs. Benzos can feel floaty, anxiolytic, and even euphoric, but opiates induce a profound, dreamy euphoria that can be stimulating and sedating at the same time. They work very different pharmacologically. Benzos work on GABA, and opiates work on the opioid-receptors, allowing for the release of primarily dopamine.
 
As others said, benzos induce relaxation not dissimilar to that provided by opiates but no euphoria...

The benzo high is pretty boring, dull and apathetic, that is why they are generally considered to have little recreational value... (which sucks, since benzos are far easier to obtain)
 
It can't be used to combat withdrawals as such, but it will help you relax while going through opiate withdrawals along with decreasing your heart rate, which is a good thing while feeling like death. Best thing for withdrawals would be subutex/suboxone.
 
In the past 3 hours I have taken 15ml of hydromet (15mg hydrocodone) ,30mg ambien, 2mg suboxone, and probly 2 1/2 shots of brandy.
I feel fine right now but I was wonderin if I can still take a couple more ambiens cause I know that the suboxone and alcohol combination already can cause respiratory complication. will taking 3 more ambien be too much risk for respiratory complications due to all of the depressants?
advice would be greatly appreciated.
 
Valium gave me the most interesting benzo high I've ever had. I'm prescribed Alprazolam (xanax) and when taken at a recreational dosage, my body gets heavy, I feel relaxed and I have zero anxiety. I feel calm at and peace, though I can be easily agitated got some reason.

I've only had Diazepam once, and my dosage must've been high for having next to no benzo tolerance at the time. There was a lot of euphoria and a definite heavy feeling in my body. I took 3 10mg pills, totalling 30mg and ended up with double vision after not to long. I was pretty much high as fuck and very messed up. Much more than any other benzo gets me.

However it has almost zero comparison to an opiate high. An opiate high is warm and full of euphoria and sedation, while benzos can almost feel cold in comparison even though they are sedating too.
